But that's no the case with Johnson. I heard it from his own mouth that he has limited, very limited, experience playing with his hand in the dirt. He said he's working on that daily to try and gain explosion. I'm not saying he won't eventaully be good at it, but I seriously question his ability in the run game and as a drive blocker. It seems like we often forget about the run blocking aspect when it comes to OT's.

Watching Fisher's game, he struggles as a run blocker as well. Arians said he want to improve the run game. Levi at LT and drafting Warmack would be an awfully nice start.

I think what some scouts are thinking is that his combination of size, physical skills and intelligence mean that he potentially has more upside than the other two tackles. He started out at TE and then spent some time at DE then to RT before finally finding is sweet spot at LT.

His performance and the combine only solidified those views. For most scouts the upside is more than a possibility, it is a likelihood. He could easily end up being the best tackle in this draft.

I don't mind drafting Warmack at all. But Johnson is also a perfectly acceptible option. Arians has been around awhile. I am sure he'll figure it out.

For everyone whos board starts like this:

1.Joeckle
2.Fisher
3. Lane Johnson
.
.

You would seriously take the 3rd best option at a single position at #7 overall? Keeping in mind that while taking a G in the top 10 isnt fun, said G is a "once in a generation talent", you still take a "Raw but with some upside" former TE transition guy? Said LT is would probably also be the 3rd best LT in last years draft too. Meaning if you combined the 2 drafts, youd take the 5th best LT in the past 2 years.....#7 overall....

Thank goodness forums exist and not more job openings to be GMs.

I agree, but that has not happened, and will never happen. And wont happen this year because Lane Johnson is not the BPA at 7 if Joeckle and Fisher are gone.

Warmack isn't a once in a generation player. They said that DeCastro was "the best guard to come out in a long time", last yr. He went #24 to Pitt.

Warmack might not even turn out to be the best guard taken in the draft this year. He will start right away yes, but those who are expecting him to dominate every snap (once in a generation player) will be disapointed at times, for sure. He'll be solid. Lane Johnson will be very solid at PP. Extremely so. There is a case to be made for both. Especially if you consider that BA has said that Massie and Potter could transition to guard at one point.
