Watching the Denver game and Allen is lighting up Burrow. This is a perfect example of drafting a player, developing him at a position of tremendous need and then letting him go to another team who pays him relatively modestly. Allen would have helped the Cardinals immensely this year.
I believe he has the most QB pressures in the league, his contract is a massive steal.

I don't feel as bad about losing Allen since he said he wanted to follow Vance, not much you can do if the player has no desire to stay.

It's very funny to me that with the season almost over Vance and Kliff are two of the best coordinators in the league. Vance is thriving now that he has a GM that isn't releasing good ILBs in order to increase playing time for terrible ILBs.

If anyone's curious Simmons exclusively played special teams for the Giants last week.

Clear passing on him and Murphy was a mistake. I’m not sure who advised thst decision. I have to wonder if Ossenfort got good inside info.
Many of us were calling him out at the time. But, hey, we have cap space.
Zach Allen and Brian Burns on the left side of the defense would look awful nice these days.

“But he wanted to play for vance”

I interpret that as “our gm was unable to make a persuasive argument/offer for him to stay.” Everyone knows that’s part of the GM’s job, right? Talent evaluation, cap management, and talent acquisition. That last item means doing what’s necessary to bring/keep key free agents. That’s why I don’t give monti a pass here. Because he either failed on the evaluation or the acquisition with Allen.

Agreed. Head many times X player will never sign with his current team, hoped Cards would trade for/sign him, only to have player X sign with his original team. That was Allen’s agent saying “make us an offer we can’t refuse”

That is actually what Allen said. Can you find a legitimate article or quote that bolster your position?

Monti had TWO MONTHS to convince him otherwise. He didn’t or couldn’t.

99.9% of the time a player goes where they’re gonna get paid the most on their second contract. Having a former coach there just frees the player to say he wasn’t just chasing the money.

It’s pretty credulous to believe press reports when, like, Bilal Nichols says he came here because we’re “building something special” or some other nonsense.

I find it interesting that 2 of main things people are saying that is missing from this team are DL and fast slot receiver.
Allen and Hollywood were here when Monti was. I realize Hollywood has been hurt but a healthy Briown seems like an ideal fit for the slot.
My point is the things Monti needs, he already had. Other than Edge.

2 years and 10 wins later.
lol and we may have 11 wins had we kept him if we were lucky and he didn’t blow out his knee here which is more likely lol…. Still bitching about this 2 years later is prime ASFN

You’re right. Why bitch about letting one of the top DL in the league walk away when you can watch Bilal and Lopez and talk about drafting DL in round 1.
Hell, people still talk about drafting Levi over AP. A blunder is a blunder.

Actually, if the Carfds had Allen’s production this year, they’d probably be playing for a playoff spot tomorrow.

Say he plays like this for the next 6-7 years and goes on to a HOF career. You better believe I’d bitch.

Have you bitched about Keim this year? It’s been 2 years.

Don't forget about a playmaker in the secondary while Byron Murphy just made the Pro Bowl and had more INTs (6) than our entire secondary combined (4) and one fewer INT than our entire team (7).

Maybe if Monti started to make better moves people would talk less about his mistakes.
