Maybe not a bunch of games, but it could cost us a game or two. Butler is not good at pinning teams close to their own endzone and a healthy Zasty is one of the best in the NFL at doing just that.

I agree. Apparently that is gone or else we would not have cut the guy.

To bang heads against walls over a cut punter is splitting hairs and just being negative to be negative.

Chicken little the sky is falling. NOT. We will be as good as we can be. We have a great coach. There will be some people coming in on final cuts. Things change quickly.

yeah, cutting a punter just made us lose a bunch of games.

Well, Butler's "performance" was a major factor in our playoff loss. Butler was 31st in both average and net. (kicking half the season in optimal kicking conditions)

Not good to have one of the worst punters in football.

I'm pretty sure that Lindley was the sole reason for our playoff loss. If you are playing that bad, you can have the best punter in history and you still will not win.

agreed. still confused why we didn't bring in another punter to compete with Zasty. Butler was atrocious last year.

I agree. I assumed the front office/coaching staff felt comfortable that Zasty would return to health and pre-injury form. Butler is not an exciting back up option.

Pass protection, linebacker corps, and another season watching drew butler punt for 28 yard average. There is a lot to be upset about with this team

Yeah, might as well just not watch. We will let you know how it turns out.

I'm pretty sure that Butler himself said that he was a major reason for the loss http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/157326/drew-butler-shocks-cardinals-with-worst-game-of-career

professionals blame themselves.

Even if we won, was the mighty lindley going to start throwing touchdowns or something? We had no business being in the playoffs with 3rd string QBs.

Well, the fun would have likely ended the next week anyway, but you said Lindley was the sole reason. He wasn't.

Butler by every measure was in contention for the worst punter in the league last year, and I have little confidence that he'll be much better this year.

Good punters can make a real difference in the field position battle, and we have a terrible one.

According to FootballOutsiders, our punting game cost us about 9 points in field position over the course of the season. That was bad enough for third-worst in the NFL—although Carolina's and J-ville's punting games were MUCH worse.

Butler's more frustrating to watch than out-and-out bad.

I'm uncertain if the drinking game should be based on good punts or bad punts with Butler given his high variability.

I just like the fact that we have a two page thread already about the bad punter we have, not about the punter we lost or the other guys...

I think we got spoiled with a good zasty for soooo long. Quite honestly when he was on point, there were very few that were better.

It's amazing how crucial a punter really is. Now we are struggling with that position when it used to be automatic with Zast. I took it for granted for sure
