We have to be bringing in another punter after cuts, right?

There is no way we can go into the season with "10 seconds to kick the ball" Butler

How many blocks will we have?

How many crappy punts that put the D in a bad situation will the D tolerate before giving up?

Was cut and could be brought in to compete with Butler or just take Butler's job outright...

His Punts while limited look much better than Butlers.

I lived in Australia for 7 years and really got into rugby.
We should bring in a punter from the NRL or a rugby player. They have some extremely talented kickers that can hit field goals at odd angles, or do a variety of kicks to hit specific locations on punts. Rugby players typically are built with legs like tree trunks and they have some real talented kickers over there. Im sure we could lure someone over if we couldn't find anyone here. I know that would be out of the norm but they are there for sure!

I'd say Lindley, Butler and Ginn were equally responsible.

Ding ding ding!

I'm not struck with grief that Zasty was cut, I'm stricken with grief that at this moment in time our punter by default is Butler. If Zast couldn't beat out Butler he should be rightfully cut but Butler should not be around either.

Anyone who thinks Butler was insignificant to our demise last season needs to watch some of those games again. Our "bend but don't break" defense was given the proverbial straw that broke it in handful of games by gifting our opponents with beyond generous field position on a regular basis. We didn't lose all of the games he kicked terribly and certainly it wasn't his fault alone, but a average kicker is supposed to be a relative non-factor in the overall outcome. When you have a kicker that hurting your chances he can't be kicking for you.

If we had a productive offense poor kicking would be easily enough to overcome but we didn't, and the first half PS Game 3 was giving me flashbacks of our offense last season enough that I can't imagine giving the opponents the ball at mid-field or closer whenever we go 3 and out and expecting our D to win us games.

All I can say is I hope to see someone else kicking in Game 4. I'd assume the roster is going to be tight try out more than in Game 4 one at this stage.

Didn't we have a rugby punter for a little while?

I think age had a play in releasing Zastudil. He is 36 years old and hasn't been able to regain his form since being injured last season.

I think age came into play, not Zasty's but Arians...

The old man has lost his freaking mind... Butler is a POS.

I don't get it, I just don't effing get it.

We had Ben Graham, ex-Geelong Aussie Rules player. There's a handful of guys knocking around the NFL & college who have AFL backgrounds.

There was a kid at Memphis 2010-2013, Tom Hornsey, who was named 2013 Ray Guy Award winner which goes to the best college punter of the season. He's yet to catch on with any team.

from wikipeadia...

  • Hornsey went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft.
  • Tom was with the New York Jets during rookie minicamp.
  • On August 11, 2014, Hornsey signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys released Hornsey on August 26, 2014.[3]
  • Hornsey had an average punt distance of 50.2 yards, the best in NFL preseason, with a 63 yard long, in 2 game (5 punts) with Dallas. [4]
  • Hornsey had workouts with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers either during or after the 2014 season.
  • Hornsey signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent on February 19, 2015.

Arians said "Butler had a great year outside of the playoff game" in Urban's cuts article. I love Arians, but come on... the guy was ranked 31st in both total punt average and net. Tell us the kid beat out Zasty, but it's a little annoying when he pisses on our head and tells us it's raining.

No doubt.

If Butler is our punter come game day, the old man has lost his mind, there is probably 70+ punters that are better than him, but we wouldn't know, cause he never looked at any others.

Jim Tressel: "the punt is the most important play in football."

I guess BA disagrees.

I like BA, no one said he has **** for brains, but his decision with our punter is making me think senility might be in play here. :p

I like this better.

I can't remember, but GET OFF MY LAWN or I will have Butler punt you off it! :D

As long as his lawn isn't wider than 20 yards, we should be ok
