    Vogel Fired

I guess Ishbia really is willing to throw money at the team's problems, where he is able. Now go throw some at the GM problem, Matt.

    Vogel Fired

I wonder if anyone else with a coaching vacancy this offseason will have an interest in Vogel? I mean obviously no one who plans on being competitive next season. But teams like Toronto, Washington, Atlanta, or Brooklyn with no chance who just need a warm body to fill their (potential) coaching...

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

The old rookie thing isn't so much the problem as Jones obsession with that over anything else, including talent or positional need. The fact is Jones doesn't want younger players period, which is also likely why they tossed Camara to Portland last year and traded away just about every draft...

    Mike Budenholzer Thread

They should just make him the guy who decides what brand of hot dogs the vendors sell and take away any other responsibilities from him.

    Vogel Fired

LOL... oh, Flex you magnificent idiot.

    Vogel Fired

Trying to find some positivity, I hope this means Jones is being removed from any personnel decisions and into something that's just more of a ceremonial PR role. And then they follow that up by bringing in someone who is an actual quality personnel front office person who doesn't like, totally...

    Vogel Fired

So I guess this answers the other thread as to whether we can blame Vogel. :D

    Can we blame Vogel?

You can't fire the owner, of course. But I'd be all for firing Jones... out of a cannon so he landed outside Phoenix city limits.

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

McCullar would be a terrible pick. He's redundant with about four other guys currently on the roster (five, if Gordon somehow returns). Also, his athleticism is suspect and he's an old rookie... which is obviously the attraction for James Jones. So yeah, it would be a highly questionable pick...

    Can we blame Vogel?

I think that ended when Monty got the Detroit job. There's usually a clause for such when coaches get fired and then rehired.

    Can we blame Vogel?

All the signs do seem to be pointing in this direction... sigh. The Suns are seriously going to lose fan interest over this rinse and repeat approach next year. And worse, Ishbia is going to draw a lot of derision and hostility from the media and fans when it likely fails even worse next season.

"It's like Looney Tunes around here" - A Suns source reveals how chaotic the organization is under new owner Mat Ishbia

The problem is that James Jones seems diametrically opposed to doing anything like that. And worse, based on what we saw in the end of year presser, he seems to have convinced Ishbia that it's pointless to try and find and develop younger players. That's why we've been in a hole with investing...

    Suns 2024-2025 Season Discussions

DISCLAIMER - Even after the Suns announce something, Flex will still continue being a dork.

"It's like Looney Tunes around here" - A Suns source reveals how chaotic the organization is under new owner Mat Ishbia

Indeed. It's beginning to look like they really aren't going to change anything except a couple assistant coaches and a few back of the bench players... and probably throw away a couple more draft picks in doing the latter. Who is seriously going to want to watch next season as they stumble...

"It's like Looney Tunes around here" - A Suns source reveals how chaotic the organization is under new owner Mat Ishbia

Yeah, that's the problem. Too many of the guys who end up in roles like NBA head coach (or GM, like James Jones) are glib/smooth talkers but are utterly incompetent at their jobs. Heck, that's probably true for most of the rest of the world, too... now that I think about it.

"It's like Looney Tunes around here" - A Suns source reveals how chaotic the organization is under new owner Mat Ishbia

Just wait until they announce that Vogel is coming back... with new assistants, apparently. That's the latest rumor. As if the assistant coaching was really the big problem. Uggh.

Hindsight is 20/20. I didn't believe Ayton would end up being such a bummer.

Suns updates and discussion for the 2023-24 season

He would improve the ballhandling situation, but not age, injury risk, or cohesiveness, per se. I guess the Suns would be testing the theory that if a Big Three doesn't work, maybe a Big Four will?

    2023-24 Around the NBA Thread

Yeah, Lakers coaching vacancy plus no Lue availability equals it not being a good off season for the Suns to try and find a new head coach, unfortunately.

Suns updates and discussion for the 2023-24 season

Well, he is definitely those two things, as well. But he's also a fast talking salesman, as they say. He might also do well in say, the mortgage business. Hopefully, Ishbia will realize his talents are being wasted as a basketball executive and find room for him in his other business instead.

Suns updates and discussion for the 2023-24 season

I can see why Ishbia probably likes James Jones. JJ is a master BS-er.

Suns updates and discussion for the 2023-24 season

Yeah, that whole idea has stupid written all over it. We're going to end up dumping further picks and chances to get younger for whatever washed up available wing reminds James Jones most of his awesome self during his playing days.

"It's like Looney Tunes around here" - A Suns source reveals how chaotic the organization is under new owner Mat Ishbia

Don't you know? Durant's best years are still ahead of him, according to JJ. He probably won't even hit his prime until 38 or 39. Then we can sign a 45 year old Lebron and never have to worry about the draft again. It's James Jones' dream scenario - he can sleep in every NBA draft day.

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

Yeah, Edey is the guy I want if he's there. Good depth behind Nurkic, who I'm skeptical will have a second consecutive injury free year. And Edey is definitely a guy you can plug in against the big body centers who typically give us fits. Otherwise, I would be okay with any decent PG prospect...
