Come on man. If this wasn't a preseason game he would have seen twice the minutes, but it's the first game of the preseason and you're not going to play your starters actual starter minutes.
He picked up 4 fouls in his first 8 minutes of play or so, so that's the main reason why he sat so much. My point was that the team struggled offensively because they had no proven PG on the floor for most of the game. They started the game shooting around 60% through first quarter but finished at 41%.
I thought Marshall ran the team well for the most part but he didn't get much help from the shooters for more assists. He looked confident and was very unselfish.
We know he's a pass-first PG so that is not unexpected. But I don't remember seeing a whole lot of good passes that resulted in someone missing an open shot or layup. Maybe I wasn't watching closely enough. His stat line: 28 minutes, 4 points on 1-5 shooting, 0-2 long range, 4 assists, 0 steals, 3 turnovers, 3 rebounds and -8 while on the floor.

Some good things I did see: Beasley did a little bit of everything, including leading the Suns in assists. Johnson can score (18 points in 24 min), but his long range accuracy still off. Morris looked really bad at times but somehow managed to post 16/7. Tucker made a few really nice defensive plays and grabbed 7 boards (but shot 0-6). O'Neal with 3 blocks.

Everyone in the Suns starting lineup shot .500 or better. Everyone on the bench shot below .500 (except for Jeffers who went 1-2).

Beasley looked really good and WJ has a really smooth jumper. Morris was taking a lot of bad shots, but attempted so many that he was bound put some points up. I was impressed with O'Neal's shot blocking ability. I still feel as though Dragic would have played a lot more minutes had this been a regular season game, but since it was preseason he wasn't worrying too much about foul trouble.

I remember at least once Marshall passed out of a lay up (Diaw style) only to have the recipient unable to finish. There must have been others but that is not my point. I remember the beginning of the Las Vegas summer league where Marshall looked horrible adapting to the speed of the game and then his improvement near the end of the league. I think the same will happen in the NBA with continued minutes. What I'm looking for now, is his composure running the team which I saw. He is not a good shooter nor comfortable shooting but I think this will come. Also he will need to learn how to set up shooters on the floor in their comfort zone. I'm banking on Marshall's intelligence to improve his game and just keep getting better. He is certainly going to need time to develop and more than one season to get there.

After one summer league and one preseason game? Pretty bold.
Haven't see anything at all that suggests he's NBA material to me. Can't shoot, can't play D and doesn't possess the athleticism to make up for the lack of any of the before mentioned things.

Then I again, I am not an NBA personnel. He may surprise me and turn out good. But as of recent, I have got my predictions about Suns draftees right. (I called Lopez being trash, Clark being a bust, Morris becoming a key contributor)

You are wrong, nothing new though.
I am wrong in my opinion?

This is a free country bud. I don't know how things work out there in Germany but here in America I have the right to say what I want (tastefully of course ;))

It was an awful pick. I don't think he flames out that fast but he won't be a significant contributor for the Suns.

What's worse is Sullinger is going to start for Boston.

I don't think we necessarily need Sullinger. I see him as a little bigger version of Scola. With a better low post game.

However, I wish we had gone with Terrence Jones instead. Or if we wanted to go big man, then Henson would have been a nice option as well.

My preferred scenario would have been for us to trade up with Houston (and the Rockets were trading picks ALL over the place so I have little doubt that we could have acquired their pick for little) and drafted Jeremy Lamb.

I was watching the Celtics the other night, and I got really pissed off that we passed on Sullinger to draft Marshall. The kid is such a solid big man- rebounding, low post moves, nice jumper. I cannot express just how angry I am that we passed on that kid.
