He picked up 4 fouls in his first 8 minutes of play or so, so that's the main reason why he sat so much. My point was that the team struggled offensively because they had no proven PG on the floor for most of the game. They started the game shooting around 60% through first quarter but finished at 41%.Come on man. If this wasn't a preseason game he would have seen twice the minutes, but it's the first game of the preseason and you're not going to play your starters actual starter minutes.
We know he's a pass-first PG so that is not unexpected. But I don't remember seeing a whole lot of good passes that resulted in someone missing an open shot or layup. Maybe I wasn't watching closely enough. His stat line: 28 minutes, 4 points on 1-5 shooting, 0-2 long range, 4 assists, 0 steals, 3 turnovers, 3 rebounds and -8 while on the floor.I thought Marshall ran the team well for the most part but he didn't get much help from the shooters for more assists. He looked confident and was very unselfish.
Some good things I did see: Beasley did a little bit of everything, including leading the Suns in assists. Johnson can score (18 points in 24 min), but his long range accuracy still off. Morris looked really bad at times but somehow managed to post 16/7. Tucker made a few really nice defensive plays and grabbed 7 boards (but shot 0-6). O'Neal with 3 blocks.
Everyone in the Suns starting lineup shot .500 or better. Everyone on the bench shot below .500 (except for Jeffers who went 1-2).
