Since it seems we have edge covered by number of bodies. Do we double up on DT for first two picks. Could see an OT as well.

No, because it doesn't make sense now.

The Cardinals just invested $20M per year in Sweat (27 years old), $9M per year for Browning(26). They used a 2nd round pick on BJ Ojulari (22 years old) and are very high on him. Plus they have Collins(26) and Thomas(26) on the bench and will probably draft another young guy to compete at Edge as well.

Why would the Cardinals use a High draft pick (which they value greatly) to bring in a player who will want a contract upwards of $30M per year and will be 31 years old in December? There is no need to go down that path now. They have a young core at edge now and have bigger needs elsewhere.
Poverty franchise mindset. Basing a decision like this on the Ojularis and Collinses of the world is poor. You put Hendrickson opposite of Sweat, use the draft to stock up on hungry young DTs, and watch the Cards waltz into the playoffs with room to spare. Even Kyler couldn't eff that up. Your defense is instantly elevated rather than, gee, we hope our defense is good enough now.

But hey, no reason to take swings, ever, right?

A stud rookie DT in the middle, Hendrickson at end, sweat next to him at OLB
Overload, not enough linemen on that side to block everyone...with a hopefully emerging Darius on the other side with Browning or Ojulari...

stout, we are going to continue to hear, be patient, great value and we’re smarter than these other teams spending money.
But we signed Brewer and Blount, while we sit and watch the Bears completely revamp their o-line with an all pro guard and the best center in free agency.
I’m sorry but I’m not falling for the mirage of a professional football team anymore. A leopard’s spots never change.

You think the bears will have a better record than the cards next year? I don't see it.

So you think the cards should give Natti whatever they're asking for in trade and then give him whatever contract he wants too? I mean maybe I do but I don't know what both of them are asking for, if you do please share.

The Cards have signed a consensus top 5 free agent for maybe the first time in team history. To imply that they haven't 'taken a swing' is disingenuous.

Sure, I want them to do more, but they did something a lot of people here thought they wouldn't.

I guess. I struggle with the team acting like it is Josh Sweat away from contention.

If the Bengals trade Trey for 1st and that team gives him 35 mil … I am ok with passing on that. However, that compensation seems excessive.

If it came down to a 2nd, I am ok with giving up on the next BJ Ojulari or Max Melton.

WC, what have we done to improve? Sweat, that’s it. Everyone else was on the team last year except Brissett who we hope doesn’t have to play and Gaither, who many here would rather just keep White.
For a team with the second most cap space we are acting like paupers. Just like we always do.

Theres actually people HAPPY because we resigned Zay Jones. We were never going to sign Williams. I don’t care what the media says. Actually I’m glad we didn’t. So we are going to build through the draft HOPING the player we want is still there… and of course whoever we pick will be the guy we always wanted and then HOPE he blossoms which 1/2 the time they don’t. You cannot count on draft picks making a major impact the year they are drafted. Very seldom does that happen.

We will resign a couple of our own very soon and everyone will be ecstatic.

There were players that changed teams that would have improved this team today. But we just don’t do it.

Mark my words, we will head into this season barely spending over the required minimum amount. It will explained as “ just in case we have to make additions later”.

Sorry, I’ve waited and hoped too long for things to change. Our only hope is to catch lightning in a bottle like 2008.

I guess we'll have to revisit this in September. It's not over just yet.

This exactly is my point. Who knows what everyone is asking for. If it's a second and 30 mil a year, well it's not my money but that seems to be a lot to me for a guy over 30. But I would complain if that's what they did.

I'm going off reports that Cincy was looking for a day 2 pick. A day 2 pick and cash would just be a no brainer. I get that it may not be possible to do. What I do NOT get is posters talking like it wouldn't make any sense.

lol Same thing we hear every year and in September it's over. Not finger pointing at you, just pointing out that patience is not usually rewarded with this team.
I get it, and to be up in arms about it in September makes sense. I guess I'm just wired different. It's just the Darksiders MO.

As I remember there was some optimism during last season when we won a few games from several Darksiders. Then it all fell apart. Hell I even got in on some Darksiders stuff last year
