Two weeks ago in Austin, after the NASCAR race, we tried to eat at a texas road house. It was a 55 minute wait when we got there @ 9:00 p.m.
place was packed. We ate at WhatBurger instead.

Cousins is a good place to eat in Ft.Worth. Reminds me of Rudy’s in New Mexico, but better quality.

What hippies? Austin ain’t the Austin you think anymore.
I was going to say the same thing. there's a lot of out of staters living there and a lot of them are not hippies. nothing wrong with being from out of state. I moved to this area and I'm not from it. it seems like Austin/SA are growing faster than any area that I've ever seen personally.

Texas Roadhouse is not worth waiting for. neither is Whataburger. there are so many good bbq places in central texas though. especially the mom and pop type places that don't truck in their pre-made food.

It's funny how people associate certain restaurants with different locations. My wife and I and her uncle first had Rudy's in Brownsville, TX years ago, so that's the state I think of when someone mentions Rudy's even though we live really close to three locations right here in AZ.

I think the OG Rudy's was in San Antonio and was really good. Not sure if I went to that one, but I went to a Rudy's in SA in 2009. I think that was around the time or before it started popping up everywhere else. anyway I hear it is still pretty good for a chain BBQ Restaurant. I work in Lockhart Texas now and they claim to have good BBQ there. Hopefully I get to try some soon.

I had some pretty good BBQ the other day here in Austin. I was surprised because it was a chain, and I think I like it better thank Salt Lick. It's called Smokey Mo's.

There was a Burger chain with like a sky blue sign, and it had a big P in it. I can’t remember the name now I meant to ask and forgot. Do you know what I’m talking about by chance we saw them all over driving around Texas, but I had never heard of it before.

Actually just hit me. It was called P.Terry’s.

Saw a funny meme the other day about BBQ. It said:

"The people of Texas would like to remind you that just throwing some hot dogs or hamburgers on the grill is not BBQ or Barbecuing. That's just grilling."

I went someplace once years and years ago I don’t remember where. But I ordered a burger and asked them if their burgers were grilled not fried… the waitress said oh yeah they’re definitely grilled, which is what I was looking for. My food came out and of course the burger was fried.

She insisted that it was cooked on the grill… even came back with the manager. That was when I learned that in some places they call the huge surface that they cook burgers on a grill. And if you want it flame grilled it’s called a barbecue. Smh….
