It looks like the dust has not settled on the Cardinals roster.

Josh Weinfuss

@joshweinfuss

“I will tell you guys the dust has not settled.” - Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon on the 53.He said what the roster looks like Monday will be a better indication of the true 53.Gannon said there’ll be “some” turnover better today and Monday.

Gannon going hard at the EDGE critique.

I like that Gannon will at least spar with the media a little, and that his responses indicate he's anticipated some of the questions. He sounds thoughtful and fully engaged.

I know some on here don't like him, or are not yet sold on him, but I really appreciate the way he's handled himself to start a not-very-optimal coaching opportunity.

Michael Carter signed back to the PS. Bidwill got to keep his money, and the player came back.
the gamble worked and the Cardinals didn't lose any of their young talent to waivers by keeping them on the roster. I'm super glad that they got Carter back as I thought i might be risky to expose him like that.

The Cardinals re-sign Desmond Ridder to the practice squad. They must like what they see.

Do the Cardinals really believe that?

I wouldn't bet everything on it sticking.

I'd expect them to put him on the PS, until they find a better option. If indeed they are looking. I don't think this takes that option off the table.

Here is an explanation of why Michael Carter was cut before going to the practice squad.

Kyle Odegard

@Kyle_Odegard

Here's the reason Michael Carter was cut: A proven performance escalator pushed his 2024 base salary to $3.37M, which was way too high given his standing as RB3 or RB4.Cards will try to bring him back at a lower cost.

A couple of players were not at practice: TE Tip Reiman or CB Elijah Jones.

Dani Sureck

@DaniSureck

OLB Julian Okwara a new addition. Did not see TE Tip Reiman or CB Elijah Jones out at practice

Gannon and Monti must be so comfortable with our pass-rush options. There won't be anything from the PS to elevate if they need some pass rush help later in the season. Definitely an interesting approach.

Okwara is a decent addition to the practice squad. Only 9 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 4 years, but he was an early 3rd round pick in 2020 and had 12 sacks and 18.5 TFL has last two years combined at Notre Dame.
