Paris was Hump’s replacement from the day he was drafted.Yeah...obviously the Cardinals did not think Paris was only a RT which is why they picked him first. Not sure what you think you did here.

@Russ Smith
Here are the details of the original trade (see below).
We then traded up to #6 to get Paris (I think we gave up #33 to do it).
Someone might have more details but high level:
Will Anderson for
Paris Johnson Jr
Darius Robinson (2024 1st round pick)
Elijah Jones (2024 3rd round pick)
I think we also have to discuss the gamble. EVERYONE at the time of trade thought Houston's pick they traded us would be top 5 to top 10.
CJ Stroud over performed for a rookie. I would have still taken that bet 10/10 times.

Anderson is playing in a 4-3 defense, so would he have fit into our 3-4? I'm sure he would have had a role but would be have looked the same is the question I would askThanks. If Darius turns out to be good and I think he will that's probably a good trade.
Again the key is they IMO we wouldn't have an NFL starter caliber player at either T spot if we hadn't gotten Paris. I think they knew they were moving on from Hump so they made the deal with that in mind.
We haven't really seen Elijah Jones yet so no idea how good he is but for the future hopefully he can play.
I watched a bunch of one of the Texans games, Will Anderson is as good as I thought he'd be, he's good against the run, he's a force in pass rush, they were doubling him regularly. He plays every play hard, but I think we probably made the right move getting Paris.
And yes, when we made the trade nobody thought Houston would win that many games.
I don’t even care. If Robinson turns out to be the kind of player I think he will I think the trade was fantastic. Loving our LT already.Anderson is playing in a 4-3 defense, so would he have fit into our 3-4? I'm sure he would have had a role but would be have looked the same is the question I would ask
agree... I think we will all be pretty excited to have Darius Robinson by Christmas.I don’t even care. If Robinson turns out to be the kind of player I think he will I think the trade was fantastic. Loving our LT already.

I get it. You draft a guy that high he's going to play. My question is would he still be getting the accolades he's getting now? Would he be as effective as a DE in a 3-4,?True but I think he's just a good football player, we would have found a way to play him.
he's not Isaiah Simmons
He would’ve been an olb where, imo, he’s an even better fit.I get it. You draft a guy that high he's going to play. My question is would he still be getting the accolades he's getting now? Would he be as effective as a DE in a 3-4,?
Probably I believe his draft reports stated such. But we'll never know. And why I stated the question. He would’ve been an olb where, imo, he’s an even better fit.
Too lazy to find it, what did we end up getting in total for Will Anderson? I know PJJ but with the trades after I'm not clear what the final result was.
PJJ is good, I think Will is looking outstanding this year, he can get after the QB and he's good against the run. I would have taken Will but if you replay it and don't make the deal not clear to me who we would have at either T spot now so probably best we made the move
The 2023 #3 and 2023 #34 were essentially turned into (through three 2023 draft day trades that started with the Will Anderson trade):
2023:
OT Paris Johnson Jr
Edge BJ Ojulari
CB Garrett Williams
2024:
DL Darius Robinson
G Isaiah Adams
CB Elijah Jones
If Darius Williams somehow comes into being the player, we all hope then the trade was a stealTrade looking better with G. Williams coming on like a house on fire.
We could/would have gotten him with our own 2023 3rd round pick (81st overall -- now Tyjae Spears). His selection was not a "bonus" pick added in that transaction. IT advanced us 9 spots in that round.Trade looking better with G. Williams coming on like a house on fire.
We also traded the 81st overall pick in the draft as part of the larger transaction. The 2023 #3 and 2023 #34 were essentially turned into (through three 2023 draft day trades that started with the Will Anderson trade):
2023:
OT Paris Johnson Jr
Edge BJ Ojulari

2024:
DL Darius Robinson

CB Elijah Jones
Pick 81 was from the Detroit trade and we turned around and traded it to the Titans. So I didn't include it.We could/would have gotten him with our own 2023 3rd round pick (81st overall -- now Tyjae Spears). His selection was not a "bonus" pick added in that transaction. IT advanced us 9 spots in that round.
Hard to find a good young LT. I’m goodPlayer for player using PFF ( I know it not a perfect measure, but still a measure). PJJ ranks 9th in the league at OT. Anderson ranks 21st among DE/Edge. You can argue that is small win in itself - both playing at the 2nd and 3rd premium positions in the NFL.
If Robinson is starting material, the trade is a good win. If that happens AND Elijah Jones develops then it's very good win.
BUT! Still cannot help to think about what it would have been like if Texans didn't catch fire last season. I think realistic worst case scenario when the trade happened would have been a top 15 pick. Can you imagine Verse on this team. I'm hoping Robinson will have similar impact, but time will tell.
