Suns had a bad 4th quarter. Being outscored by a bad team 32-16 is inexcusable. Need to play better. Thankfully they had a 20+ point lead headed in.
Feels like a classic case of thinking it's over when it wasn't. Should have come out with energy at the start of the 4th and they may have actually put the game away early.

Don't see why they need to have two open spots. Maybe if they use up the current roster spot and later need to clear one for another player.

The Suns need to carry 14 players, but I'm looking at their future and what they need.

Everything was short in the fourth quarter. Beal’s elbow is clearly a problem.

Open spot and add a big? How would we add one? We are in the second tier.

The second tier doesn't prevent the Suns from making a trade or adding a veteran minimum player like Kaminsky.

They can't afford to look much beyond this year given the second apron. There's nothing they can do now that they can't this off-season. They're utilizing their spots the best they can. They aren't going to find a better two-way player that can contribute to the main squad than Gillepsie and it's in the teams best interest to keep him as a two-way this season so they can use a roster spot on someone else. They have restricted rights on Gillepsie this off-season and can revisit adding him in March or April, when he's out of NBA games and they're building the playoff roster.

Bol² is the odd man out, or one of them. I think Lee is also expendable if needed. Depends on whether the Suns can add a big or guard.

Gillepsie gives them a 3rd PG option. No need to rush it.

They need to sit him until he's healthy. He needs to recognize this isn't the Wizards and we don't rely on him like they did. We're not even 10 games into the season so no one should be rushed into action.

Trading for Beal with his injury history and no trade clause was a mistake. This is always going to be the Bradley Beal experience.

Yeah… that was a homerun swing and not just not a swing and a miss, but the bat slipping out of the batters hand after and smashing someone in the face.

Giving Gillespie a four-year contract is viable. Tyus Jones will likely move on after this season because the Suns can't pay him his worth.

We agree Bol Bol and to a lesser degree Damion Lee are expendable, although if the Suns traded Allen, that would be less true.

Where we may look at it differently, I see the need for the Suns to eventually clear another roster spot. They already have an open one now.

I have no problem letting this play out a while longer. However, I'm viewing the Suns future, not just the now.

I disagree. We were a 2nd apron already and Ishbia was committed to spending. Beyond the salary, Beal is a good player. The coaching staff can't let his salary dictate his role. If he doesn't like the role or sitting while he's hurt then he can waive his no trade clause. No deal is untradable. We've heard that about many players but they've all been moved CP3, Russ, Ben Simmons, Poole, Gobert, and others have been said to be on "untradeable" contracts but they were traded.

The question isn't whether it's tradeable or not, but whether or not we can trade it without losing the trade or making our team worse in the process.

We can sign Gillepsie to a 4 year deal this summer. I'm not 100% he can get a 4 year deal since he's not an actual rookie but the main point is any deal the Suns can offer now is the same as they can offer this summer. Giving him a spot now is using a roster spot before we need to. We would then need to find a two way spot and the odds of finding anyone who can contribute more than Gillepsie is slim. So it would actually downgrade the roster and limit our options more than improve it or create flexibility.

Fair question. Depends on how it's judged. From a talent standpoint we'll likely lose it. That isn't to say we can't add players who fit better. The financials are another aspect.

Yeah the numbers are good but something is just wrong with the dudes’s body. He hasn’t played over 60 games in a season since 2019. Book has missed quite a few games over the years but only one season he’s been below 60 GP during the same span. Nobody is trading for Beal until he’s expiring (and that’s with his permission).

We will probably still be talking about this when the summer rolls around.

I like wrapping things up early, but that's just me. Personally, I like the bird in hand approach rather than risk RFA.
