I laugh every time someone thinks they should sell the team. Like that would ever happen.
Exactly! Why would they leave?

I couldn't find the value of the team when they moved here in 1988, but assuming it was worth les than $1billion, I see by Forbes in August of this year, they value the team as $4.3Billion.

Unfortunately, they aren't going anywhere soon.

Not what I expected and at the same time exactly what I expected.

I think Monti would ship high draft picks for a proven young player, but not overspend on a unproven one year rental. I called it a 4th for Clowney. Turned out to be a 6th for Browning.

I am curious about the Myles Garrett rumors that continue to fly around. The asking price is supposedly 2x 1st and a 3rd. That seem too steep a price to pay. Maybe there will be a compromise with the Browns season lost. Maybe Monti is talking to Jerry about Parsons after the Cowboys are done for the year at 3-5 with Dak out for 4-6 weeks.

My prediction is that Browning plays less than we think. He's not going to be THE guy, just A guy.

I think he will mainly be a situational rusher, predominantly on 3rd down. 45% snaps kind of player.

Partly because of his skill set, but also because I don't think our scheme is easy for someone to pick up mid season. Rallis asks a lot from his Edge guys in different coverages and run schemes.

Basically he'll be Gardeck. I don't think we gained anything over where we were 3 games ago, we just replaced Gardecks loss.

Gannon said he's an every down player & not just a situational pass rusher, he said they're gonna try & get him up to speed this week as much as possible. A radio guy in Denver that covers the Broncos was sad they lost him, he went on to say he can rush the passer, set the edge & stop the run. We all know the VJ system is complicated, probably way harder to learn than our defense. If he stays healthy i think he's gonna be a very nice addition, he is very quick & has a few moves, looks to be quicker off the ball more than anyone we have.

It's an opportunity for Baron 'von' Browning to earn significsnt playing time and a new contract. He wasn't going to get either in Denver.

If he seizes the opportunity good for him and the Cardinals. If not he'll get a very cheap contract somewhere.

FWIW, I can't stand the term "flashed". This is the NFL, every one has flashed. Can you impact the game? That's the question. I'm hoping a change of scenery and a chance to shine with us turns the light on for this dude.

Side note: I once found an old county map showing the land my high school is on was once owned by Baron von Stuben. How we were not called the Barons is beyond me!

Age probably played a big part.

Browning, while younger, is a UFA this offseason. Say the Cards get some production out of him: the team may still lose him.

Smith is signed through 2025 (at a cheap $1.4mm per year in salary).

This team has a chance to win its division and/or make the playoffs. The 49ers arent going to lose key offensive starters for long stretches of the season every season.

It feels like Monti is so committed to his process (players under 30, keep draft capital) that he is passing on an opportunity.

Yup that’s a loss for monti. Zadarius is a better player for minimally more assets.

But they also could still keep him for cheap. Decent chance he’ll be in our long-term plans. Za’Darius, at age 32, clearly will not be. If Keim was still the GM, I bet he would have absolutely made this move.

I don’t mind Monti staying true to his under 30 rule, especially when it comes to EDGE players. Imagine if we would have traded draft capital for Matt Judon? There would have been initial excitement only to see he’s completely washed.

To me (I know less about other teams than you guys) this appears to be a thoughtful, low risk move with some decent upside. Of course no panic in this move whatsoever.

MO seems like an investor, not a gambler. He's going to take what the defense gives him.

Why? Glad you get your giggles in having a crap owner.

Bidwill has proven like his father that he's not a good owner. He SHOULD sell the team, but he's hit the lottery and gets to lord over something he doesn't deserve while not even trying to compete. Hilarious stuff.

the Bidwill I went to school with says he'll sell the team and bring an MLS soccer franchise to Phoenix... but he was also 17 when saying that and his family might have an opinion!

I appreciate the philosophy Monti has.

But for this season and the opportunity that the team has earned:

I would rather have a >30 year old player who I know can play vs a 26 year old player with potential

I would rather have the 26 year old who has showed at least some big potential over the 32 year old whose best days are most likely behind him. We did the latter a lot with the last regime & suffered from it.
