Yea, one problem I have with Petzing, & everybody else here should, is the lack of WR screens.

How many WR screens have we called this season? Like…..1 in the Miami game? Are we waiting until the final stretch?

Hell I know we don’t have the most impressive YAC threats at WR, but throw the defense off just a little bit dude.

Bears have been awful and the QB has struggled to get their top WR the ball. However, the last two games they've been doing a good job getting screen passes to Moore in space.

The thing is we're so good under center...how is this not in the offense?

Sure. Fans can question everything. Kliff called WR screens out the wazoo and fans questioned that. Personally, I think Petzing should call the good plays
Problem with Petzing is that he seems to NEVER call them. I think that would be a good playcall cause I doubt the defense would see it coming considering we never call it.

Yea, I’m not even asking to go OD with them like Kliff did, but man, throw just a little wrinkle there. It’s even more annoying because we have good blockers at WRs, use them.

Yea we have the physicality for it. Had a great screen to Trey.

I'd like to think Petzing has a weak spot then the worse alternative.

He doesn't believe these guys are good with the ball in their hands/short area. Which was a concern of yours as well. However, we at least have to try to it every now and then to keep defenses honest.

The offense was moving well for good portions of the game but couldn't finish drives. This game felt like it was on Kyler getting rattled after a few hits. He always says "one play at a time", but you could tell he was in his own head looking at him on the sidelines.

He was definitely rattled. However, I do think the defense kept him in it. Two egregious mistakes in terms of the pick 6 and missing Trey for the TD doomed him/Cards.

Ironically we'd been off if Kyler played it safer. Just run out of bounds on 4th and 1 while trying to get the first and then don't risk getting the wind knocked out of you near the goal line (missed Trey the next play).

Other games he was able to bounce back and lead come from behind victories cause he wasn't getting beat up all game. He's gotta stay in it mentally.

I think the one thing we can absolutely question Petzing about is the lack of WR screens.
what is the correct number?
I mean, Kliffy called wr screens about 12 times a game and that was obviously too much

or did I just trip on a sleeping troll?

It’s like Jekyll & Hyde. If his game plan is not successful, he seems confused how to fix it. It’s weird because he’s still being talked up as a top head coach prospect. I think there is a little of that trying to show he’s the smartest guy in the room. I can only assume he thought passing often early would confuse the defensive plan they put in. It didn’t. It was clear early it wasn’t working. Instead of using the run more to wear them down, he just kept passing. They got some rhythm, but it was clear they were prepared to contain Murray on the edges. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t roll him out or run pass/options. They bungled to only play where they were pulling linemen and gave up on a tactic that had beed fairly dominant. Where were the screens? Red zone calls ignored how Seattle was defending. Get Harrison one on one. He’s been reasonably dominant. Just float the ball and it can be released quickly.

The Vikings have one of the best Dlines in the league. They are dominant against the run. Maybe the Seattle game plan will work there. The Cards better come prepared to slow the rush. Otherwise it will be a long day. Just hope Minnesota takes the game for granted and the Cards can burn them early. On defense it will be a great test of how much the CBs have improved. Minnesota is the better team, but in the NFL, they don’t always win.

Petzing was wearing blinders yesterday and couldn't fight his way out of his gameplan when it wasn't working.

Your OL can't allow your QB to get rocked twice on the opening drive and not fix it. The middle pressure was very successful and the OL didn't do anything to adjust. Oh wait. Yeah, Petzing is responsible for that.

I simply don't like the guy, I don't think he has any flexibility and understanding of rhythm and flow of a game. He's stubborn in the face of changing variables. Worst quality to have in an OC.

One thing I noticed yesterday was that Petzing was standing by himself most of the game and did not engage with Kyler on the sideline until the 4th quarter. Gannon went to each until at least 3 times each and was trying to fire them up. Rallis did as well with the defense. The defense seemed fired up each time too. Kyzir and Buddha are clearly the leaders on the sideline keeping everyone in the game and Buddha pulled Rabbit and Andre aside to work on technique a few times. Fro seemed to be the only guy on offense trying to fire them up. The offensive until did not seem to have a leader yesterday. Kyler needs to step up if Petzing doesn't.

What would Petzing have said to him he didn’t know what to do by the lack of changes that were made.

Oh, wait. Petzing makes play calls. Froholdt and Kyler make adjustments to blocking schemes.

Is he not responsible for the offense and the OL coach?

And isn't Gannon the H-C, Monti the GM and Michael the owner?

How far in the 'responsibility' order do you want to go to cover blocking adjustments in real time on game day on the field of play? As said, that falls to Froholdt and Kyler, and perhaps Fro would consult with the OL coach between series regarding the calls. Petzing has different responsibilities on game day.

As you said, you don't like Petzing.

Are we edging toward this is a Kyler problem territory yet? I don’t watch any Commies games; does Jayden have presnap motion available to him?
They are in the bottom third of the league with us.

In other words not imaginative at all.
