In the opener in Buffalo, with about a minute left, he missed a completely open Marvin Harrison who could have walked backwards into the endzone for the game winner.

Anyway, it has not always been on his own, but as a quarterback he is obviously highly involved. Especially in the blowouts against Washington and Green Bay he had a lot of misses.
Not sure about this one. Kurt Warner did a review of the play and basically said that it would of been a very difficult throw based on what was occurring around Kyler.

Well, when has he been a superstar? Nobody, outside of a few posters, has thought he's a superstar. I like the title advanced game manager.
There have been superstar plays... I daresay even a superstar series or two.
But never a superstar game...nor even back to back star level games.

He can do that, no question. He doesn't do it often enough to be a superstar, and he doesn't take over games like a Mahommey or Brady and carry the team to wins. So maybe an Advanced Game Manager Plus? :)
Then we just disagree on the term.

Agree on the not superstar.

I think anything with the term game manager is related to a lower bracket of qbs than Kyler belongs to

There’s so many examples out there than just using the best QBs of all time, lol.

The top 5-7 quarterbacks have very, very few bad games where they cost their team the victory
This hasn’t been true at all outside of Josh Allen & Lamar this season.

I don’t know, Red. I have seen the video with Warner, but I am not sure I agree with his assessment. As I see it, there is a window in which Murray looks in Harrison’s direction and has time to throw the ball. Not saying Warner is wrong. I just don’t see it.

I think many people feel like you, Bach. I guess I just don’t see it as a bad thing to be a game manager, and specifically in the case of Kyler Murray, I have been excited to see how well he performs when he is kind of only executing the system. I feel like we as viewers can see and sense that, even though we obviously don’t know the playcalls. It feels to me like it often goes wrong when he is trying to do too much to carry the team on his back.

I don’t know if I should just quickly underline that I don’t think Murray is a bad quarterback. Not at all. More than half the league would be thrilled to have a quarterback like that, and I am too. It is the instability that bothers me, and – I think – will keep the team from going all the way.

Really? I haven’t seen all, but I don’t feel like Joe Burrow, Mahomes, Jared Goff have costed multiple games? Justin Herbert? I mean, sure they have bad plays, but that big mistakes?

This is a good analysis.

Those are names I think of when I hear generational, etc. Using those names show just how laughable the claim is.
I feel like you’re too smart to still be entertaining that.

Burrow is a good call. His defense just sucks ass this year.

Goff literally had a 5 INT game on primetime weeks ago, but it didn’t matter because the defense did their job & they still won the game. He also costed Detroit their only loss to TB this year.

Mahomes is one of the greatest QBs of all time, but he has been pretty pedestrian this year. Doesn’t matter because the defense has balled out for a majority of their games until recently.

Kyler ain’t no damn game manager. You can say he’s inconsistent, but a game manager isn’t putting up multiples games playing like a top 3 QB like he has against LA, Miami, NYJ this year.

Is there anyone on this board who still claims Kyler is generational? Or is this just dredging up comments from 2019 and 2020?
Dredging up comments from 2019 & 2020 to get a thumps up. I know for example BIM has a nasty habit of doing that.

This literally happened last weekend from multiple posters in the Kyler Murray Debate thread.

It sure looked that way from a bird's-eye view sitting at home, but KW reviewed this play and said that the narrative was B-S.

I just looked it up. Next year Thompson will count almost 14 million against the cap (or nearly 5%). I always argue that the salary cap is not important due to inflation in the cap, cap manipulation, and restructuring. However, you also cannot ignore the salary cap because that would give different penalties. My point is that either restructuring Thompson’s contract, or simply letting him go, seems like the most rational thing to do.

What is your gut feeling about Elijah Jones? I have pretty big hopes based on how I felt about him pre-draft, and the fact that Gannon obviously likes him. I think that one thing we have learned is that the brain trust knows how to acquire players that fit in the systems, and that gives me hope for Jones.
Second string passing down guy. He doesn’t offer much in run support. Looks like maybe a dime CB who’s best in a zone. He has good ball awareness & skill. He’ll compete when he’s in position. Would have trouble with speed covering deep routes. Not a bad guy, but not good enough to displace current starters who are growing every week.

Every QB in the league has bad games. One bad game when he was pressured on about half of his dropbacks and all the sudden he hasn't "turned the corner" or isn't a "superstar". Wasn't aware I was in the overreactions thread. Will fully admit he needs to continue to get comfortable being uncomfortable in the pocket, but spare me all the certainties being spewed.
I agree they all have bad games. My concern is composure. Murray seems to lose it at time. In the right situation, he can be as good as anyone, but talented teams are learning if he gets pressured he may break down.
