My texas friends don’t like it. Wanted boise in second round.
I think Texas will beat ASU although I think Ewers is a pretty flawed QB. ASU got little pressure on ISU OL yesterday and Texas has a much better OL. I understand why they want Bose though and if I were a Texas fan I would have probably felt the same way.

Gotta root for Clemson again I suppose

Everyone notice ESPN laying the groundwork for doing away with conference champion byes and, instead, simply seeding the 12 participants?
Absolutely that's what ESPiN is angling for. Also, they probably want a guarantee that Bama, Ohio State, UGA, USC, ND, and Texas will always be included regardless of record.

Congrats to ASU That’s pretty cool that they get a bye as well.

Can’t worry too much about the bracket itself if you belong, you will handle your business either way. If not, you’ll be out doesn’t matter where you sit on it.

Some history on the Peach Bowl.

In 1970 ASU beat North Carolina in the Peach Bowl during a snow storm. It helped thrust ASU into national prominence.

Honestly, I’m not at all impressed by Texas

Yes.

They’re all butt hurt because they’re prized Conference isn’t very good this year.

They’re not talking about getting rid of the conference title games. They’re just saying those games shouldn’t determine the top 4.

Which makes sense… the conference title games guarantee entrance into March Madness, but they don’t guarantee the 4 #1 seeds. Should be the same for football.

I never said ESPN mentioned the conference championship games just they are already floating conference champions not getting first round byes automatically.

If not, why have them. Major conference champions should get a bye. They earned it.

Do you believe that for the NCAA tourney also?
they deserve a spot in the playoffs, but I don't think they deserve a first round bye.

I mean, taking that to a logical conclusion, Clemson deserves a home game... even though they're a 12 seed?

Most likely scenario is the top 4 seeds get a bye regardless if they won their conference. Conference winners that have to play in the 1st round get a home game.

Basically the nfl system

i have no problem with that. they probably shouldn't, just like conference title winners in March Madness aren't guaranteed #1 seeds.

I do think every major conference football champion should get a bye and every team should belong to a conference if they want to be considered for a bye.

Haven't studied the NCAA basketball tourney. It's a much larger field.

Yeah thinking about it the nfl isn't the greatest example since the top seeds are always division winners.

We do know that they're going to want to emphasize winning the conference for a variety of reasons. One of which is to make sure they keep the cash cows that are the conference championship games

I think that's the way to go. The winner of a "major" CCG should punch a ticket to the playoff, but not necessarily get a top seed. Kinda funny that there is still so much controversy around the bracket selections. Some thought that there would be a lot less of it when the field expanded from just four teams.

The field will probably go to 14 or 16 games before the current agreement with ESPN expires in 2031, but there will still be debate over who the left-out 15th or 17th team is. :)
