We Need More Talent On Offense

Obviously happy we won today. All things considered it went better than I expected and we got some luck which was nice. So after a win, maybe it is time to actually focus on the prime issue we are facing that is getting lost in the weeds of individual player statistics...

Is Kyler Murray mediocre?

Is Marvin Harrison lagging in his progress of becoming a bona fide star WR?

Why can't Greg Dorch get open consistently?

What happened to using Benson in the screen game?

Can Mcbride ever score a TD?

These questions are no longer relevant. Because tonight the Bills beat the Lions 48-42.

Your opinion of Kyler and everyone else just went out the window. We don't have the offensive talent to beat both these teams. Something similar would be necessary in order for us to get to and win a Super Bowl. So regardless of what you think about our QB situation or any of our current players, it is time we start using our brains and realizing that we are missing the forest for the trees.

We need overwhelming talent to compete next year offensively. It doesn't matter if you think Kyler needs it or not. The team won't go far without adding another WR who demands attention and probably more oline depth.
If we don't do this in the offseason, it doesn't matter who we add on the defensive side of the ball. When we get bad luck or have a few early turnovers, it will be game set match.

But you all knew this already.

Because you remember how you felt about our chances when we were down 24-10 at half last week vs SEA. Regardless of who you blamed for that outcome. You can either keep complaining about individual performances every single week or recognize that we were all wrong when we thought at the beginning of the year the offense was perfectly set.

Yes and no. There are areas where talent can be improved but the nature of this offense is conservative and low volume so you won't likely get value for those upgrades.

Kyler's unwillingness to push the ball down field limits the value you get by adding a deep threat. The low volume passing attack is the same. Upgrading at OG is probably a viable option but that comes with a cost. Not sure how much you can upgrade at TE.

Probably the best option is to build a great defense which would get the offense more possessions to sit on the ball.

QBs much much worse than Kyler are still able to make things happen with good pass catchers who get open. Look at the Giants, Jags and Raiders, look at most of Larry's QBs. Hell, Kyler himself was able to get old Larry the ball quite often in 2019.

The priority for the front office this off season needs to be signing a #1 WR. Projecting Marv to turn into a superstar just because of his draft position is a fools game.

What amazes me is Josh Allen. Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly, but I seem to remember hearing how he wasn’t accurate in college and the Bills were nuts for drafting him so high. KM is light years from the QB Allen is.

Kyler had a "not bad" day today with a QBR of 90+. Josh Allen and Jared Goff were in the 120s - 130s for QBR. Now that is elite. In addition to beefing up the defense even more than it is, the Cards need to either trade for, or draft, a true franchise quarterback.

No way I am passing on the defensive line talent in the first round…..we would have to have the lions o line and the eagles wideouts for Murray to succeed anyway….

Ironically, going into the season, most of us thought that we were pretty stacked on offense, and that our defense was historically untalented. This front office needs to be very aggressive on both sides of the ball this offseason. Additionally, Petzing needs to be fired immediately after the season

Draft, draft, draft, develop, develop, develop. We’re one of the youngest teams in the NFL. We beat the teams we’re supposed to & we’re not good enough to beat the teams we’ve lost to. And use some of the $100M we have in FA without derailing our goals of achieving sustainable success. This team is no where near being a finished product, so keep building.

I actually don't believe this is accurate. I know you'd like to think so, but I think you'll be surprised when you count the number of guys on their second or third contracts that we played today.

No reason why we can't do exactly what the Ravens and Bills did. Diontae Johnson and Amari Cooper are good examples of what I am talking about.

Harrison was a big piece of the answer but I just think one more threat that commands the attention of the defense would be big.

Sam Darnold has more talent around him than Kyler Murray right now.

Ok, What would you add??

Offense is pretty set IMO.

TE group is set.
RB group is set.

MHJ needs to develop. If he does there is a good #1 WR with a solid number 2 in Wilson. Adding a super WR would mean giving up on MHJ or Wilson. Are we ready for that. Depth is needed for sure.

OL
Center is set with Froholdt and Gaines as a back-up.
Tackle is set depending on Beachum coming back or retiring and Watkins development.
Guard.. I wouldn't mind using some of all that cap space on a quality to upgrade Brown, but Adams is still developing and Hernandez most likely will be brought back. LG is seriously the ONLY starting position where I would upgrade. (4 of the top 5 Gs per PFF are Free agents)
