The demise of Chris Paul has been greatly exaggerated. His health has been an issue, but at no point has he not been, at minimum, a good player.

Nurk went from being below average to being horrendous.
His effectiveness dropped off. He was missing shots that used to be money and he couldn't stay in front of anybody. Even when he made shots they were not when we needed him. He just seemed slow.

Some are saying now that he shouldn't have dropped weight. Idk but being lighter and more mobile should have improved him, but I always thought he sucked.

Nurkic would probably help the Suns more down low if he had the build of Plumlee. If he firmly held his position and rebounded, that would be something.

Add in Paul's leadership and I'd say he's better than Tyus, who has been hyped a savior of sorts or steadying hand.

After another playoff injury/underperformance we had to move on from CP3. Everyone was in agreement in the moment but of course New Owner Syndrome took over and we ended up with a crippling contract. In hindsight we couldn’t gotten something better for CP’s expiring but we blew all our picks on the KD deal.

What say you?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Suns are 20-20 on the season as of 1-16-2025
They are 3 losses out of the 6th spot in the West
42 games are remaining
Made a trade for center Nick Richards who likely will make his first Suns appearance on 1-18-2025
I say, we proved tonight that we can pull out a close win against the worst team in the NBA even without our newly added center so there's no stopping us now.
gotta get beal and nurk out of here - even if it's for nothing but draft picks
I don't think that's happening because both players have negative value contracts at this point in time.
However, Nurkic may have value as an expiring contract next season or as early as this summer.
The basketball IQ of this team is certainly lacking. Since I think Ishbia is keeping the team together, about all we can do is hope they can find and fix the problem or one of the so-called Big 3 asks to be traded.
Time to trade Durant to the Rockets, I am more excited to see Dunn/Oso than the trade that killed the joy
Suns did not need Durant, they just needed to trade away DA
Actually I think we have to trade Booker to the Rockets. That is who they want, and that is who we can get the most picks for.
Well, that's what I would do, I don't think Ishbia will even consider it because he is in complete denial.
.500 isn't so bad - specially with how the year has gone - i was surprised when i looked - we're actually within 4 games of the nuggets/mavs/lakers/clippers/wolves/kings
im not saying we don't suck anymore - im saying if we do somehow go on a run it's going to be an easy climb - we're better nurkless - that much is evident but we're no where near relevant
Here is the problem with that analysis.
#1, our second half schedule is the 2nd hardest in the league.
#2, The only reason we are .500 is the weird hot start we had when we were 8-1 or whatever and our recent super cupcake schedule. Team has only been getting worse as the year has gone on.
team hasn't been worse since nurk's been out - it's been slightly better - but we still suck and aren't relevant - and idgaf about schedule strength in the nba - it's not like the nfl - but again it doesn't matter because we suck - that's my analysis
I think, when fully healthy and with our new big man integrated, we'll play like a pretty good team - one that could win close to 50 games if they had a full season. So, IMO we do not suck. It's just that even in the best of circumstances, we're likely to be closer to mediocrity than greatness. And it's scary to think that we could well be looking back a decade from now and calling this the good ol' days.
I don't think it's been better at all.
They went 1-1 against the Hornets, 1-1 against the Hawks, barely squeaked a win out of the Wizards game, beat the Jazz, beat Philly without Embid, lost to Indy and Memphis.
That is a freaking easy schedule - the easiest stretch of the entire season and they only went 5-4. Strength of schedule is actually more important than the NFL.
If they can't make up ground with that schedule, they plain are not going to make up ground. This team is not making the playoffs.
we also have not one but two interns on the court - often at the same time - i think that combo will only improve but oso got me a lil worried
it was obvious bud told the rookies to focus on rebounds last night - both tried - oso is bigger but dunn just has some weird tracking ability - way better than the the post office - while oso struggles to get in position
i think im ready for some oso at power forward
we lost 8 out of 10 games before going nurkless - did you miss all that? did you block it all out? i would totally understand - ive tried too
How accurate this information is, I have no idea.
Supposedly, the Suns are open to trading their 2031 first-round pick in a trade for Jimmy Butler.
it would be dumbest move ever
I think the current Suns ownership and GM have already made worse moves. A devil's advocate would ask, why stop now?
If somehow, the Suns could trade for Butler and keep Booker/Durant, they will have added the power forward and center they so desperately needed.
The Suns look to be playing for a 2-3 year championship window.
Indeed, some on this board were saying the same thing a few months ago, pointing out that the Suns will always be able to make more moves by trading picks that are farther and farther into the future.
Huh? Who's the power forward?
The Suns look to be playing for a 2-3 year championship window.
Except that the 2-3 year window started 2.5 years ago.
This seems to be the pattern.
Jimmy Butler can play multiple positions, including power forward.
Except that the 2-3 year window started 2.5 years ago.
If the Suns extend Durant for two years, they would be planning for a longer window. It would be this season through the 2026/27 season, when Beal's contract expires, or likely to coincide with a new contract for Butler expiring.
