Among all starting centers with 20+ games this season, Jusuf Nurkic ranks 31st out of 33 in FG% at 45.2%.
Nurk's drop off has been almost as sudden as Chris Paul's. He went from being a solid contributor to completely dragging down the team in a short period of time.

I think he's been dragging the team down ever since the end of February last season. And this year I think he's become aware of the writing on the wall and has been somewhere else mentally most games.

Some are saying now that he shouldn't have dropped weight. Idk but being lighter and more mobile should have improved him, but I always thought he sucked.

So looks like the Wizards will be missing 3 rotation players tomorrow as well:

Malcolm Brogdon
Marvin Bagley Jr
Saddiq Bey

Bey has been out all year, Brogdon's been out about a week and Bagley has been out since before Christmas.

Long segment on 98.7 right now on the Suns. Talking about how you probably want to stay away from Butler and you definetly don't want to commit to him because he gets mad everywhere he plays.

Then that segwayed into how the Suns currently play with no passion or joy... and that neither did the Nets with Durant... and that his last couple seasons in Golden State were cloudy, which then went into them talking about how Durant is seperate from the team, he never plays within an offense, he plays his style, apart from whatever the team is doing and that is just how he is, at the same time Gambo is walking on egg shells to avoid hurting Durant's ego, qualifying everything and mentioning how individually great he is. They also went into how Booker is a reflection on the guys around him, he was fiery with Chris Paul, now he is laid back with Durant.

Yippie.

Durant is a cancer.

I don't know how bad we'd have to do between now and the trade deadline for us to move him, but it would probably be in the best interest of the team if it happened.

The demise of Chris Paul has been greatly exaggerated. His health has been an issue, but at no point has he not been, at minimum, a good player.

Nurk went from being below average to being horrendous.

His effectiveness dropped off. He was missing shots that used to be money and he couldn't stay in front of anybody. Even when he made shots they were not when we needed him. He just seemed slow.

Nurkic would probably help the Suns more down low if he had the build of Plumlee. If he firmly held his position and rebounded, that would be something.

Add in Paul's leadership and I'd say he's better than Tyus, who has been hyped a savior of sorts or steadying hand.

After another playoff injury/underperformance we had to move on from CP3. Everyone was in agreement in the moment but of course New Owner Syndrome took over and we ended up with a crippling contract. In hindsight we couldn’t gotten something better for CP’s expiring but we blew all our picks on the KD deal.

What say you?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Suns are 20-20 on the season as of 1-16-2025
They are 3 losses out of the 6th spot in the West
42 games are remaining
Made a trade for center Nick Richards who likely will make his first Suns appearance on 1-18-2025
I say, we proved tonight that we can pull out a close win against the worst team in the NBA even without our newly added center so there's no stopping us now.
gotta get beal and nurk out of here - even if it's for nothing but draft picks
I don't think that's happening because both players have negative value contracts at this point in time.
However, Nurkic may have value as an expiring contract next season or as early as this summer.
The basketball IQ of this team is certainly lacking. Since I think Ishbia is keeping the team together, about all we can do is hope they can find and fix the problem or one of the so-called Big 3 asks to be traded.
Time to trade Durant to the Rockets, I am more excited to see Dunn/Oso than the trade that killed the joy
Suns did not need Durant, they just needed to trade away DA
Actually I think we have to trade Booker to the Rockets. That is who they want, and that is who we can get the most picks for.
Well, that's what I would do, I don't think Ishbia will even consider it because he is in complete denial.
.500 isn't so bad - specially with how the year has gone - i was surprised when i looked - we're actually within 4 games of the nuggets/mavs/lakers/clippers/wolves/kings
im not saying we don't suck anymore - im saying if we do somehow go on a run it's going to be an easy climb - we're better nurkless - that much is evident but we're no where near relevant
Here is the problem with that analysis.
#1, our second half schedule is the 2nd hardest in the league.
#2, The only reason we are .500 is the weird hot start we had when we were 8-1 or whatever and our recent super cupcake schedule. Team has only been getting worse as the year has gone on.
team hasn't been worse since nurk's been out - it's been slightly better - but we still suck and aren't relevant - and idgaf about schedule strength in the nba - it's not like the nfl - but again it doesn't matter because we suck - that's my analysis
