This board has been complaining about letting Murphy go for two years but I haven't seen a single person say they want him back now that he is a free agent.
I do not want him - especially at the price tag that is rumored.

Murphy had an outstanding year in a defense that had the highest percentage of pressure to QBs.

The play of our secondary was acceptable with one of the lowest pressure percentages. Add more pass rush and our current CB room is above average IMO

A couple of posts have questioned, What about Metcalf? While he may physically be a fit, I think he is a Me-first guy, rather than a team-first guy. That just doesn't fit what the Cardinals under Gannon and Monti are doing.
We aren't getting to the promised land with a team full of boy scouts. If the culture and locker room can't handle a few difficult personalities, well, then, it isn't the culture and locker room we thought we built.

$15.5 million for Christian Kirk. People thinking that a starting-caliber X receiver is gonna be cheap are not paying very close attention.

Respect for the Texans' big swings to support their QB.
Same reason we should have taken 2 1st round WRs last year.. WR is an insanely expensive position and the draft was loaded

Interesting article...

Best free agent signings by team and player from 2021-2024 ranked by "value".

The Cardinals probably did better than you thought.

Big swings? Kirk has 1 season over 1000 yards in 2022 and has only twice had more than 787 yards in 7 seasons. If they want to pay $17m for that then let them have at it but it's not a big swing. He's WR3 on that team.

i post this only because the Cards love their 2 and 3 TE sets --

and

i have heard one NFL guy note that adding a move TE to the offense would be helpful

not a free agent, but Trey Hendrickson, EDGE of the Bengals has been given permission to seek a trade

one year left on his deal, so its the old draft pick + a new contract kinda deal
He’s not going to trade one poverty franchise for another - he wants a ring. That would be insane if we could pull off that trade tho

Bruh. People here were begging for Kirk. Dell just got another surgery.

In a bad FA market and draft at the position, they went out and got exactly what they needed.

All it costs them is a mildly overpriced one year salary and a day three pick.

These teams still have to get under the cap by the first day of new league year (12th)...correct?

Well...this seems like an odd complaint as Monti has dumped a ton of assets into the secondary. Why would we be interested in Murphy? And why does that not make him a good player?

Again...this is a silly view. The investment is low. The risk is low. And in this market they got a top 5 WR (it's a bad market).

We have bigger pressing needs and young DBs that need to see the field. If this were Allen being discussed the board would be all over trying to get him back. Context matters.

Yeah I'm kind of surprised we're not getting more hopes from him. 2025 Allen is the best-case scenario (maybe) for Darius Robinson.

My issue with DK is that he is going to want to get PAID if he is traded. I'm not giving a "difficult personality" $30M+ a year if I'm the Cardinals. The Cardinals have bigger needs than overpaying for a diva WR right now. The Cardinals need to start overpaying for some Defensive help.

Which people were begging? I saw some people say it would be nice to bring him back on a reasonable deal. I didn't see anyone saying they want to send our 6th, and pay $17m for a guy that averages about 750 yards a year.

It's not by any definition a "big swing".

DK acquisition get the Cards at least 1.5 wins more next year.

Problem is they would never trade him to AZ

The point is if we don't need him now, seems like a good move 2 years ago.

Doesn't make him a bad player - it's more about the decision/outcome.

I do t know that I would call it a “big swing”

But I would say it seems on paper a very smart swing.
