What is your definition of a big swing in this market? Trading for Myles Garrett? That's not going to happen. There is no version of signing Saquon Barkley in 2025.

Yes obviously, trading for Myles Garrett is a Big Swing by definition. Sending a 4th for Joe Thuney is a mild swing. Sending a 7th for a WR3 is a minor swing.

He was literally going to get cut. His own team looked at him and thought "Nah, we don't need that guy at that money. Let's eat $13m in dead cap".

no more draft pick required

a related note: Titans have plenty of cap space. Landry was signed for 25 and 26 at $17.5mm per. He missed 1 game his rookie year and played in every single one since. 9 sacks last year. Not sure whats happening in Tennessee.
I would absolutely look to bring Landry in.

Why aren't we talking about Byron Murphy?
Because we commited to SMB for $9 million a year and Murphy had a solid season and would want similar money. The other 3 CBs are looking pretty solid and Garrett Williams could make the pro bowl next year.

So you're saying that being generally aggressive makes teams generally better because of a small number of examples? There are just as many teams that have been very good by not being overly aggressive. Most Pats teams, the Bengals run, the Chiefs haven't been particularly aggressive and have built through the draft, I'm sure plenty more if I thought about it some more. And there are plenty of teams that have been aggressive and failed. The Jets, Miami, the Pats last year under BB was their biggest FA period ever and one of their worst seasons.

There's no pattern.
The lack of aggressiveness in those teams seems to relate to the fact that Burrow, Brady and Mahomes are Hall of Fame QBs and Belicheck and Reid are HOF coaches. Especially in the case of NE and KC, having that QB and coach combination hid alot of weaknesses that would have been exposed otherwise.

CIN is actually an example of a team who has been unwillinging to spend since the Superbowl when they should have. Joe Burrow has had one of the worst defenses in league since then. He is coming off of an MVP quality season where they didn’t make the playoffs and their best defensive player Tre Hendrickson is now leaving.

CIN Owner is cheaper than Bidwill.

I don't think the Cards are going to sign a bunch of guys. I do think Monti will try and make a splash by signing, and overpaying, Josh Sweat. Can't see Milton Williams being a target. I'd rather re-sign Collier than him.

realistic guys I'd target(in order of preference by position):
ILB-Nick Bolton, Devin Bush, Kyzer White
EDGE- Malcolm Koonce, Sweat, Browning
OG- Mekhi Bechton, Will Hernandez
WR- Darius Slayton, Marquise Brown
DL- Dre'Mont Jones, LJ Collier
OT- all dependent on Jonah Williams status. Jedrick Wills

My top 5 targets would be:
Dre'Mont Jones
Nick Bolton
Malcolm Koonce
Mekhi Becton
Darius Slayton
Slayton is gonna end up in our division I just have a feeling. But he is as bad as our WRs at separation. The WAS WR Olamide Zachhaus I mentioned is in the top 10 in terms of WR separation and had similar stats to Slayton. He also was given a 7 yard cushion on average by the defense.

I don’t like PFF much myself but in these cases I think they are correct. There is a good alternative you might like.

I hear what you are saying and that is not what I meant with that post. I want to spend!

Sweat might get $20M plus, which would put him right below Hendrickson.

His production doesn't match that contract - unless JG thinks he can turn him into a double digit sack guy every year...it's an overpay.

I want to spend the money - I also want to get the right players.

We also have to consider that the edge class is one of the best we have seen recently.

Keep in mind, Sweat had to take a pay cut to stay an Eagle last year. Why wouldn't the Eagles keep him like they did Baun?

After Crosby got $100 million for 3 years, I am hoping we got with Wharton on KC instead of the PHI players now lol
