    JJ needs to start

Yeah, that's the way I see him. Arrington can be a good change of pace back, a good third down back. He's not a feature back. I don't think Hightower is either. The solution isn't on the roster yet.

is 8 and8 annnd the playoffs an improvement over 8and8 and not

I really don't see this team going 8-8. I'm still hoping for 11-5, predicting 10-6, and can't see less than 9-7.

    Warner vs. Marino

May also depend on Brees, since he's ahead of the pace too, and farther ahead than Warner is. Warner could pass Marino, but still only be in 2nd place. However, since Brees is my fantasy QB, I doubt it'll happen. :D

    End of Half Free Kick...

After a fair catch, a team has the right to try a free kick from the spot if they so choose. Pretty much the only time they would want to try it would be the end of a half... otherwise they'd want posession. It almost came up in 2006 at the end of the Cards Rams game that Bulger and Warner...

    Warner vs. Marino

With 5 weeks to go, Warner is now on pace to inch past Marino's record for passing yardage in a single season, set back in 1984. The record is 5084, and Warner is now on pace for 5099.

i'm not ashamed of this loss at all

I'd save a little shame for the running game. It's almost incredible to me that they can't be more efficient running the ball with a passing offense that's this prolific. I mean, look at Marshall Faulk's numbers. He was a 4.0 yards per carry guy in Indy, with a couple of years that weren't...

So tell me why the hell we keep this punter again?

It's for his awesome throws on fakes. Oh, wait.

Wall Street Journal article on Kurt Warner

The Times doesn't do that now, and I don't think they've done it for a very long time. The Journal's just about unique in taking this approach, I think.

Florio:Cardinals’ cred on the line in next two games

Eh. The 1999 Rams team had Jerry Glanville predicting they'd lose in the NFC championship "Because the Rams just aren't a very good football team." And that was after 13-3 with one of the 3 coming in a week 17 exhibition game in Philly, and a playoff win over the Vikes. There's gonna be...

Wall Street Journal article on Kurt Warner

Y'know, it's actually jarring to read the WSJ's referring to everyone as "Mr. So-and-so" in an article about sports. When it's politics or some form of hard news it isn't that striking to me, but seeing "Mr. Warner" repeated every two lines, along with "Mr. Whisenhunt" and "Mr. Leinart" is...

    A Puncher’s Chance

I think it goes beyond just the passing game, really. The defense has a tendency to make and give up big plays, which really only strengthens the analogy. I won't be surprised by anything between a 10 point win and a 14 point loss in this one.

    Cardinals blurb on NFL.com

The offensive line has really made huge strides in '07 and '08. In pass blocking, anyway.

    A Pair Of Aces

Heh. Man, what an advantage having a guy like that. Helps to have a QB who reads the coverage well and can jump on the opportunities when they're there, too.

No Pro Bowl for Kurt Warner??

It's also a flaw of having people vote long before the season is over, and having the voting finish up before the final couple of games have even been played. As long as that's the case, it's hard to take the pro bowl very seriously.

    Someone picks the Cards upset

Wow... he managed to write something about Warner without saying something disparaging. That hasn't happened in years.

I want to see more Arrington

Actually, I think the Arrington/Hightower shuffle is working the best right now. It'd be unusual for a running back to have as little success as Arrington has had in his first several seasons and then blossom into a star. There are exceptions, of course (Thomas Jones, James Brooks) but most...

    Draw plays!

Thing is, draw plays should be some of the most effective running plays in the arsenal, since the passing attack is so strong, and the draw plays work best against an aggressive pass rush. (Most of the time. Can't do anything about a pass rusher coming free right into the running back.) You...

That's great news. They really need him in place for the Giants.

    OT McNabb fails rulebook 101

Worse was the officials not knowing the rulebook in the Chargers-Steelers game. It didn't affect the outcome, but failing to realize that a completed illegal forward pass doesn't end the play, even when they had time to think and deliberate about it... wow.

    Getting Ahead of Ourselves

If the Cards beat the Giants, it's a possibility. One game back with a head to head tiebreaker would make things very doable vs. the Giants, and the NFC South teams have some tough sledding, and the NFC North teams are uninspiring and behind the Cards. Still, beating the Giants is a fairly...

OT: How impressive are the Giants!!

The Giants are a damn fine team. I do think the Cards match up with them well, and since the game is at home they've got a good shot in this one.

    Warner's interception--WR thoughts

Road game, divisional opponent. Even without the monkey, this is a case where a win's a win. I was never sanguine about this game.
