‘Smallville’s Allison Mack Granted $5M Bond In Sex-Trafficking Case

Yeah. This is a crazy case. Sounds like there are a lot of victims who were sexually abused and raped.

    Mission Bay San Diego

Lived down there for a year. Several options: 1. Go see the USS Midway; it's a floating naval museum. There are also several other ships there, including a Soviet Submarine. Worth the money, be prepared to walk a lot. 2. Go to the gas lamp district at night. It's a great place to eat and catch...

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

I really need to get a good waterproof floating digital camera I can keep in the cockpit.

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

I have a deck bag that will be strapped to the yak with the Emergency 10 and an emergency bivy. Plus the standard precautions of check-ins and over-dues. And I carry a very small "oh **** that happened" bag that's strapped to my life vest. It will keep me alive for 48 hours, although I'll be...

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

It's a go. I have the equipment and know about where I need to get for the halfway point (there's a rather large beach that looks ideal for camping). I need to get out and do a few test runs with the yak fully loaded first to see how she handles, but I'm planning March - April, work schedule...

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

I've kayaked a pretty fair amount - go out about once a month on the River when the weather permits (usually too hot keeps me from going out. I don't care if it's windy or rainy). The river is usually calm, but I do watch the scheduled releases from Hoover Dam to make sure that I'm missing them.

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

Alone? Maybe. I could look for a group. There's not really much that could go wrong (famous last words); if the weather picks up or if you're stupid and have to bail are about the worst two things. Otherwise, it's a pretty calm, flat, and wide river.

Kayaking & Camping Down the Colorado

I've been toying with the idea of kayaking down and camping along the Colorado. Put in at Willow Beach and take 3-4 days to reach Laughlin. I have a little kayak with enough capacity to hold all my gear (tent, sleeping bag, food, fuel). Just paddle until I'm tired, then pitch a tent along a...

    Loving

I really, really want to see this movie. And I'm bummed that it's only showing in LA and NY. This was a seminal case in US jurisprudence that lead to so many good things. "Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival. Skinner v. Oklahoma...

AP source: NHL settles on Las Vegas for expansion

Apparently, according to this old article: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/las-vegas-nhl-team-name-may-not-be-decided-by-fan-vote-211314350.html The team owner wants to put it up to a vote of all the people who plopped down money for a season ticket advance. Thus, I predict that...

AP source: NHL settles on Las Vegas for expansion

Actually psyched for this. T-Mobile is a good arena. It will be nice to get a major pro sports team in the Valley. How the community support will be, I don't know. It may feel more like a home game for the visiting team. Oh god no. The Monty Python References will be too much to bear. This...

    Anyone Kayak?

BRR and I are both 6'5", about 240 lbs. He recommended a Swifty 9.5, which I've used several times and recommend. It's wide and stable. Mine doesn't track the straightest, but I can handle it in and out of the water by myself. The price is right too, going between 350 new and 100 used. It's not...

They're adjustable, but even at the farthest position, my knees stick out like sore thumbs. Knees are about at nipple level (probably TMI).

    Anyone Kayak?

Took it out twice so far and have had a blast. The first time, when I was just playing around to figure out how it tracked and maneuvered, my wife wanted a go because it looked fun. She got out in 8 feet of water and promptly rolled the 'yak. In calm weather. In a no-boat zone. I took it up...

    Anyone Kayak?

Yep - shipped. Decent deal, wanted a new boat that someone could personally recommend. Apparently the Swifty 9.5 has been discontinued. No worries. Being shipped ABF. Should be here in a week. Found out my law firm boss just bought a pair of kayaks. He's been itching to get out on the...

Well, the kayak is shipped. I hope it gets here in time so I can take it out the week between finals and bar prep.
