    Nurk thread

We must have been watching a different Ayton. Ayton's post game was terrible. Most of his points in the paint were after catching passes over the top in a pick-and-roll. If you simply gave him the ball close to the basket, his only reliable move was a fadeaway. When you say that...

    Trevor Bauer Serious Accusations

Seems like a complicated case to me.

    AYTON TRADED!

True, but only about half have panned out that way (in recent years). Even at #1, it's hard to get it right.

Nurkic will not be what we hoped Ayton would become. But Ayton won't either.

What makes you think he doesn't already have one?

    AYTON TRADED!

"Wouldn't mind a salary cut," that's awfully big of him. Dude's made $280 million in his career and has scored a grand total of 1872 points over the past five seasons.

    2023-24 Around the NBA Thread

That's quite a haul for a player the Pacers didn't even want.

    AYTON TRADED!

I agree that he shouldn't be going beyond the boundaries of his job, but I don't think his limited skill as a basketball player has much to do with it. Quite a number of All-Star players have tried to become executives after their playing careers, and most have failed. The only guy who seemed...

    AYTON TRADED!

I'm so glad we won't have to hear much more of this perspective. He wasn't "asked to sacrifice parts of his game." The Suns consistently fed him the ball, game after game, until doing so became so detrimental that they couldn't justify it anymore. If he had the aggression to go for 20-25...

Undersized combo forward is a premium position? What's an example of something that isn't a premium position?

He got sucked in the bubble? It must have been more fun than the players were letting on.

    AYTON TRADED!

Tripping people is just weak. It's a play for cowards. Even those videos are enough to show that it's instinctual for Allen -- if you're beat, go for the trip. If he had come up through street ball instead of the world of privilege, he would have gotten his hip dislocated in retaliation by...

    AYTON TRADED!

I'm not going to look at every roster in the league. The Lakers have only two, James and Davis. The Jazz, who had the league's best record in 2020-21, have only one, Jordan Clarkson. It's pretty normal.

    AYTON TRADED!

Yes, but pretty normal. That's why I always find it funny when this board has coversations about a core of 6-7 players growing together for several years.

    Who's in the rotation?

I agree, it's difficult. I think Okogie is out. The roster has too many similar players who are better than he is. I chose Goodwin because he's the only PG on the roster, and I chose Bol because the Suns are thin up front and he's worth a serious look.

    Who's in the rotation?

I'm assuming that these players are locks for the rotation: Booker, Durant, Beal, Nurkic, Allen, Gordon, Eubanks. I think Okogie is not a lock because he shoots poorly and I can see him possibly being squeezed out. The regular-season rotation will be no more than 11 players, and even that is a...

    AYTON TRADED!

True. There are four or five guys on the team battling for the last two rotation spots. The Suns may have opportunities to trade one or more of their fringe players to teams with cap space, taking back a bit of cash in return, or maybe a distant second-round pick. I'm thinking Keon Johnson...

    Nurk thread

I agree with "mediocre," by the standards of NBA starting centers. But statistically, he hasn't lost anything over the last few years. What are you seeing? Only twice in his career has he managed more than 65 games in a season. By any measure, he's a top-20 center in the league. The Suns...

    AYTON TRADED!

Because Ayton plays more minutes. Nurkic has the slight edge in per-minute or per-possession rebounding.

    AYTON TRADED!

Well that's too bad. Beverly always sticks in my mind as very dirty, and Allen doesn't, but maybe I just haven't seen as much of him. Hopefully he'll tone it down a little.
  24. elindholm

    AYTON TRADED!

I don't like dirty players, even if they're on the Suns. Didn't like Ainge, didn't really like Raja Bell. But ... Allen is a legitimate rotation guy. He shoots the three well enough to be a threat and plays both ends of the court. I don't have a clear memory of how dirty he is, so I'll give...

    Should Ayton be Traded?

Hard to see that happening. If Portland dumps Lillard and Nurkic in a fire sale, they're going to want all the young talent they can get, not ship a recent lottery pick out.
