Pitchers and catchers report in 0 days. It’s here!

My friend, I just turned 49. So I'm officially old. At least as the crazies at the WaMPO would consider. It's a great film. I personally love it. But my dad never got into it. He hated the final scene, and that always crushed my fanboy-ism for the film. We connected more over a football...

Hmm, I'll have to look for that one. But yeah, I usually pick a few in my "top 10," in kinda-sorta order Major League (Tom Berenger, Arnie Becker, Blade) Bull Durham (Wyatt Earp, Florence) The Natural (Brubaker, Frank Burns, crazy lady from "Fatal Attraction") A League of Their Own...

Wait...the Rockheads haven't wrapped up Arenado yet? WTF are they doing? He's the best thing to hit Coors Canaveral since Mike Piazza blasting one off the faux mountains. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/02/poll-nolan-arenados-future.html

The way too early official Super Bowl LIII gameday thread

What? Even Alfred Jarry thinks that's non-sensical.

Still novelties. If Bolt ran into Suh/Donald defensive core, he'd crap his pantalones cortos all the way back to the Jamaican bobsled team...also a novelty.

The way too early official Super Bowl LIII gameday thread

I was in L.A. yesterday visiting a client. Over lunch, I said they must be hyped up about the Super Bowl. He replied, "Not that much." It seems long-time Angelinos are extremely wary of Stan Cranky because a lot of his cashish came from his Walton wife. And they're not too pleased that...

    ASU Basketball 2018/2019

Aww, c'mon man. Walton is funny. Sure he's a hippie blowhard. But he's funny as hell and he fills the time in between some rather boring games with fun stuff. I could say the same thing about Ron Wolfley. His "Basinonians" schtick sickens me.

Dbacks agree to terms with relief pitcher Greg Holland

You have proved my point once again. You don't know which iteration of him you are getting. It's an expensive gambit for a rent-a-player. All the while you're losing Goldy, Corbin, Pollack, prolly Greinke, et alia. But let's hope he can save some of the 75 games this team will win in 2019.

Dbacks agree to terms with relief pitcher Greg Holland

Well, yeah, kinda. But that's the point. Who are you getting? A flamethrower or a flameout? Archie certainly didn't light the bullpen en fuego last year. So someone has to come in and replace Boxey McSaveblower. Or if you're high-falutin' and read Latin, caveat emptor.

Holy buffalo pies! Bryce Harper in Las Vegas meeting with...THE PADRES. WTF? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/01/padres-meeting-with-bryce-harper.html So the DB's can't afford Goldy...but Sandy Eggo can afford this cat?

    ASU Hockey 2018-19

Current NCAA projected seedings are out based on PairWise ratings--a kind of enhanced RPI. ASU would play Ohgio State in the Frozen Four...a team they beat earlier this year. https://www.uscho.com/2019/01/30/bracketology-if-the-ncaa-tournament-began-today-whos-in-whos-out/ BTW...

Dbacks agree to terms with relief pitcher Greg Holland

The guy was an expensive flop for the Cardinals last year and hasn't pitched in relief since 2014. I guess It's an OK add with Boxberger done. But it is a Jekyll/Hyde gamble. Archie Bradley take note.

    ASU Hockey 2018-19

Like most of the teams in the top 20, ASU had a mixed weekend against Boston U., splitting the series. Because of this, ASU actually moved up one spot to #16 in the poll. Joey Daccord pitched another shutout, keeping him 1st in the NCAA in bagels. Johnny Walker scored twice. One final trip...

Pretty much this. If it's any consolation, it probably means their interesy in Harper has declined, keeping Harper inclined to sign on the east coast. So when the DB's rebuild is done in two years, they won't have to worry about that guy in the same division.

    HoF inductees

I mean t Jim Bouton, not Jim Bunning...sorry about that. Well, McGwire didn't test positive either. But if you compare his frame in Oakland vs. St. Louis, it's pretty obvious. Ditto with Barry in S.F. vs. Pittsburgh. His career in Pittsburgh alone was HOF worthy. But then came all the BALCO...

    HoF inductees

Benzos have a new name from the days of Mike Schmidt and Jim Bunning. They're called "energy drinks." Sugar, sugar, toss in a lot of caffeine, and then some high fructose corn syrup. Maybe the concern about MLB retirees should be type 2 diabetes. :D Anyway, if you leave out all the cheaters...

    Coyotes Injuries

Well...Yotes are on the All-Star break now. They're still 2 points back of a wild card spot. Anaheim is idle, Canucks are still playing, so the whole thing is bunched up. I'm still amazed that they are this competitive with so many goal scorers out. The Hockey News advises they hold on for...

Sarver is threatening to move the Suns to Seattle or Las Vegas

This afternoon on 98.7 fm, they ran an interview with the CEO of the Suns named Jason Rowley. I have never heard this name in my life. I guess his title should include, "Sarver's main ballwasher." But he brought up an interesting point, which I think is lost on most people in Phoenix. The...
