Reshuffling the Cards; Part Three, Free Agents

Guessing he'll be tagged. I'm not getting my hopes up for any big free agent signings. Especially since the Cardinals have NEVER signed one. I guess if you want to consider the oft injured, at the end of his career JJ Watt big time, you can count that. BUt that's about it.

I agree but there would be some blowback. I can see Steve A Smith blowing up the ESPN airways already. Not that I care what ESPN thinks, but it will happen.

    Cards Pick 4th

I would absolutely hate that. Get the elite player when you can. 2nd round picks, at best are a 50/50 chance they make any impact whatsoever. Passing on the best player in the draft for a bunch of question marks is a terrible move to me.

    Cards Pick 4th

you never know. If a GM wants Williams bad enough, he will. I remember the Bears giving up quite a bit to SF to move from 3 to 2 to get Trubisky when everyone knew SF wasn't taking a QB.

    Cards Pick 4th

Thing is, he wasn't a head case at all while at OSU and came from a good family. His dad was a referee, think linesman, in the NFL and his sister a lawyer. Very surprising he turned out the way he did.

    Cards Pick 4th

Chase and Jefferson both had injuries to themselves and their QBs. But don’t bring that up. Smith has been very similar to Kirk. Other than the cute nickname and being a top draft pick you’d likely agree.

    Cards Pick 4th

Well, Kirk had 1108 yards and 8 TD's last year to Smith's 1196 and 7 and this year was on pace basically his 3rd straight 1000 yard season (982 his last year the Cards) so, no, I don't see much of a tier between the 2.

Raiders are in a tough spot. They really want Harbaugh, he got his start in coaching there. But there is going to be huge fallout replacing Antonio Pierce, a black head coach that did a pretty nice job, with the white Harbaugh. Mark Davis may not care but the NFL will, and we all know how PR...

    Black Monday - 2024

If Ryan Day doesn't get his act together he might end back in Scarlet & Gray. I know there's some background noise on that but doubt Vrabel will be interested. He was on Urban Meyer's staff shortly and wasn't a big fan of recruiting high school kids. I've actually met Vrabel twice and came...

    Ossenfort and Free Agency

MO was in full tank mode. I think it's irrelevant whether the players WANTED to leave. The front office wasn't trying to win and those guys would help with wins. And, yes, I think both would've have stayed had the Cards made competing offers. Most players want to stay with the team that...

    Cards Pick 4th

Never said they weren't desirable. If you average out their positional rankings, as a group, you have the 20th ranked WR. Very good and I'd want him on the Cards but not a star to me. Were Michael Floyd and John Brown(twice), both 1000 yard receivers, stars? No, but I sure was glad when they...

    Cards Pick 4th

Brandon Aiyuk has back to back 1000 yard seasons. Outside of SF, I don't think he's considered a star. Very good and productive player but not a "star".

    Cards Pick 4th

You have a chance at being our #1 WR as things stand now

    Cards Pick 4th

They aren't even #1 WR on their own team. We have different definitions of stars.

    Cards Pick 4th

Less than 50%, 4 out 10 made the pro bowl. That's not a high percentage to be expecting stars. I agree the misses put a team back but I'm sure the Cards were happy, overall, with what they got from Levi Brown over his career. Sure they would've liked a Joe Thomas career but they got alot of...

    Cards Pick 4th

Well. I KNOW you're wrong on that. In an ideal vacuum you're right but that's not how the NFL front office thinks. They want a multi-year starter that makes their team better and contributes to winning. Yes. they would like the player to be a star but it's not an expectation. What you're...

    Weirdly Positive

They did beat 3 playoff teams out of their 4 wins.

    Cards Pick 4th

Pretty harsh for a rookie switching positions. There aren't many rookie OT's that come in a dominate, in fact very few. Paris is going to continue to get better. Also, it's wildly optimistic to think all top 10 picks are expected to be stars. Teams would like that but it's not very realistic.

    Cards Pick 4th

Fields was still earlier in his contact and signing a long term extension or picking up his option wasn’t at the forefront. This year it’s either commit to him or move on. Plus last year didn’t have a prospect like Caleb Williams sitting there.

    Find me a f/a receiver.

I certainly hope Monti isn’t blinded and thinks Wilson is the guy.

    Cards Pick 4th

But teams don’t generally do that. Especially when they have the #1 pick staring them in the face.
