    Playoffs - It ain't over...

Not to be greedy, but why not clinch after Week 16 instead of 17? Cardinals win next two. . . 10-5 Panthers lose next two. . . 9-6 49ers WIN at least one of next two. . . 10-5 or 11-4 Either DAL or PHI lose at least one of next two. Either CHI or DET lose at least one of next two. The SF win...

Greg Schiano and the last two plays

Below is a quote from nfl.com. They called it a "false start" as the referee signal was the same motion as for "illegal snap." I'm pretty sure the play continued and would have been a live ball. When I later watched the tape, the Cardinals player did actually touch it first (probably should...

Greg Schiano and the last two plays

I was at that game. It was the one where Warner threw an interception just on the other side of the 2:00 warning but could not be reviewed (should have still been Cardinals' ball) because we were out of time-outs. When the Bucs were trying to kneel down, an Arizona lineman swatted the ball out...

Greg Schiano and the last two plays

If you remember the last time we played the Bucs in Tampa, a Cardinals defensive lineman swatted the ball away on the snap on a kneeldown and we nearly recovered in the scramble for the loose ball, down by seven. What Schiano does is indeed bush league, but watch if one day it actually works...

Is anyone thinking of flying out to the Saints game?

Will also be driving down from St Louis, but probably leaving Saturday morning so we likely won't see each other on I-55.

    Official St.Louis Road Trip Thread!

WisconsinCard: Seth here, it was nice meeting you again in Foxboro. It's too bad you aren't able to make this trip, but I can certainly understand with it being a midweek game. I'll be looking for you in New Jersey come December!

    Official St.Louis Road Trip Thread!

Biddle and 1st is a dirt-field parking lot. I just usually look for the group of red and white-clad fans. Not sure yet what time I'll be arriving downtown -- I work only about 10 minutes away and might be done by around 1:30-2:00 PM.

    Official St.Louis Road Trip Thread!

Dr Jones, looks like plenty of seats still available through TicketMaster for this game if you don't mind paying face value to get a guaranteed legit ticket. Lower level Cards sideline for $115-$190 (I'll be in section 138, so there will be at least a few of us there), price drops to just under...

Victory #500 for the Cardinals' as a franchise??

These records only go back to the start of the NFL (1920) and don't count the Cardinals games going back to 1898. Also, they played a variable number of games each season. With that winning percentage, it would be more like 6-9-1. Better, but still not great.

    Official St.Louis Road Trip Thread!

Will be there early. I'll be looking for the usual tailgate group on Biddle between 1st and 2nd.

Victory #500 for the Cardinals' as a franchise??

Looks like we're closing fast on Detroit (507) and St. Louis (515)! Unfortunately, only the Lions have scored their 600th loss (602) making our record well out of reach. . . and only Tampa Bay has a worse winning percentage.

Victory #500 for the Cardinals' as a franchise??

Re-did my math (this time with a calculator!) and got 497-699-38 counting only regular-season games. The discrepancy is in the 1920 season, where the profootball reference site includes four games against teams not in the league, and not listed in their 14-team league standings for that season...

Victory #500 for the Cardinals' as a franchise??

I ran the numbers quickly from my website's alltime results. There is some uncertainty in the games from the early 1920s in terms of which ones counted as league games. I compiled that list awhile back based on numerous sources and are accurate as best as I can tell. If I include the 1944...

    Anybody Going to New England

On my way now, approaching Columbus, OH soon. I'll be visiting a friend in Boston Saturday but plan to get in to Foxboro early Sunday.

Cardinals Fans Roadtrip Game- Dec. 2nd vs. NY Jets!

Sounds like a great idea! I'll be driving in from St.Louis and my schedule is pretty flexible that weekend. The odds are good that I'll be able to join in on Cardinals fan festivities.

Any Cards fans in KC for preseason game tonight?

On my way from StL right now!

Sando | Who to root for Wk 16 for Cards Playoff run

If we get in, the most likely opponent (#3 seed) would be NO. If SF wins out, they'll get a bye. Weather here in Cincinnati is very mild, clear, low/mid 40s. Should not be a factor today.

    Updated Playoff Picture

We need to get to 9-7 PLUS two of the three: a) Bears lose/tie once b) Lions lose both c) Falcons lose both (if all three happen, we get the #5 seed) If the Bears beat GB, then yes, they would have to lose/tie at MIN to fulfill (a) above. So which of the following is more likely to occur? a)...
  19. TheCardinal

Cards can still get 5th seed and play an 8-8 Eagles team.

And yet another way to think about it: The Cardinals must win out and get two of the following three: A) Bears lose/tie at least once B) Lions lose both C) Falcons lose both Now, if all three things happen, we're the #5 seed.
  20. TheCardinal

    Don't forget about the Falcons

The 49ers can still catch Green Bay. Of course, for this to still matter next week, they would have to beat Pittsburgh on Monday night. The Packers have yet to clinch home-field, but are likely to have done so by the Detroit game. Yeah, bad teams never win late... I'm sure Minnesota remembers...

    Who Is In For Cincy?

Weather looks to be only a little colder than we had for our win in Philadelphia last month. And the wind in Philly was indeed a factor -- I'll trade for a calm afternoon even if it means a little drizzle.

    Don't forget about the Falcons

Good point. Hadn't thought of it that way. A 9-7 Giants team wouldn't even be in the mix as they wouldv'e clinched the NFC East regardless of what Dallas does next week. NYG still couldn't beat us in the guaranteed multi-team tie-breaker, but this point further renders them insignificant to us...

    Don't forget about the Falcons

Yep, the Bears still have to lose (or tie) one more in that scenario. However, if BOTH the Falcons and Lions lose out (and we win out of course), then we're in: as #5 if Bears lose/tie once, as #6 if Bears win out. If EITHER, but not both, of DET/ATL lose out, then the Bears have to lose/tie...

    Who Is In For Cincy?

WisconsinCard: We met earlier this season in St. Louis. I'm still planning to make it up to Cincinnati Friday night, although it might be closer to midnight before I roll into town. If I make it in earlier in the evening, I'll check out the place.

    Updated Playoff Picture

No problem with division rematches in the NFL playoffs. Number 3 hosts number 6, regardless of which divisions they come from (remember a few years ago, it was 5GBP-4ARI, 6PHI-3DAL in the first round). Most scenarios which have us in, have us at #6 and the 49ers at #3, but that's assuming SF...
