    Do Ayton's comments concern you?

I would characterize the Suns as a team that has only ever paid lip service to defense. They've had some top notch defenders on the team but they didn't value them appropriately. Dennis Johnson, Maurice Lucas, Raja Bell - I'd put Xavier McDaniel in that category here except Cotton didn't even...

    2018/19 Opening Night Depth Chart

The best part of it, IMO, is that we should have some good entertainment on the defensive end. Heck, it might infect the whole team!

    ‘18-19 Suns Schedule release

Long road trips are not bed for teams that a trying to come together. They'll lose games but they don't have many distractions so they can focus on nothing but basketball. The whole team is forced to be together most waking hours, too, so they have a good chance to bond. They are likely to go...

    ‘18-19 Suns Schedule release

The toughest 8 schedules belong WC teams... I suppose there was no way to avoid that. It looks like they arranged the schedules so the worst teams have the hardest schedules. Is that something new or is it just happenstance? I don't recall noticing it before.

    2018/19 Opening Night Depth Chart

My expectation is the we'll have balanced scoring except for Booker and, eventually, Ayton. With Ariza and Bridges in the corners and Book out front we'll have the floor pretty well spread. Ayton can step our to 20 feet at least so we'll have space for cutters into the paint. When the second...

    2018/19 Opening Night Depth Chart

Reed for sure is going to crack the rotation as Daniels is a terrible defender - the latter's role will be designated gunner. In fact Danels doesn't rebound or make plays - he has the lowest rates for rebounds and assists on the team - well, he tied with Ulis last year in rebounds. He had more...

    Expectations for Ayton's Rookie year

I hope to see Ayton getting into foul trouble fairly often this year... he's not awkward so it ought to mean he's getting enough minutes and is defending the paint. He hasn't had much experience at that so every foul ought to be a learning opportunity. Who knows, Igor may be able to instill a...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Las Vegas says you won't be laughing much - they've pegged the Lakers over-under at 48.5 games, while rating us at 28.5

    Expectations for Ayton's Rookie year

Suns over-under for season wins, LV odds, is 28.5 Good opportunity? I think so.

    The last season tank thread.

I assume the players are not trying to lose when they are on the floor, and watching them that seemed to be true as well. Not that I watched a lot of games. The coach was trying to develope the players so he wasn't overworking anybody trying to win. I thought Peters should have got more PT...

    Expectations for Ayton's Rookie year

I don't have much of any expectations about his offensive numbers. I imagine they are going to depend a lot on how Igor deploys him. What I'm most hoping for is that he'll enjoy anchoring good team defense. That goes for the whole team - I hope they are proud of their D and delight in making...

Who will be the Suns second best player 2018/2019

I suppose it was somewhat true last year that he guarded the best opponent, though he wouldn't have guarded the opponents PG with Harrison on the floor or the C if Bender were on the floor. This year I'd put him as the team's fifth best defender - I rate Ariza and Bridges as our top two...

Wonder if Ryan McD knows he is going to be fired....

I just read that Jones reports directly to McD... I don't know if it came right from the horse's mouth

Wonder if Ryan McD knows he is going to be fired....

He got the extension as a vote of confidense, but it also means his boss is thinking about the job he's doing. In this league, lots of people get fired before the ink in dry on their extensions if they don't justify it right away.

    Welcome to Phoenix, Bridges

Gino is quite a jump for him in the realm of handles and playmaking - I think the potential is there but it will take lots of work. Igor's offense witl provide the opportunities and he's known for his dedication, so the chances are good, IMO. I think you're fight about him being the most...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Here's a question. A number of us in here wanted Adams but who would have the huevos to reach for him at 5? I thought about it but I don't think I advocated it in here - I did propose trades we could make with OKC to get the pick they used to nab him. A related question: does anyone, right...

2018-19 Season | Point Guard Discussion

No one was ragging on Harrison's play making last season - it started in summer league with poor feeds to Ayton. The latter was somewhat at fault but, of course Shag should have held up the passes. I'm sure that's a problem Kokoskov can and will fix. Whether Igor can fix his shot is another...

Igor Kokoskov will be Suns new head coach

The Suns cooperated too much... the worst of it being Peters close out on the corner shooter - he had help coming from the left but he gave the shooter space to his (own) right, along the baseline. If he'd sealed the baseline the guy would have been trapped in the corner.

2018-19 Season | Point Guard Discussion

My guess is the Dragic would be Igor's first choice, if we were to bring in another PG because he'd have someone on the floor who is very familiar with the system he wants to run. It would almost like Igor was out there himself running the show. I don't think we can afford Groan unless he's so...
