    Dune

I am currently reading the series (on Children of Dune [the third book]). From what I have heard, the movie butchered the book; but I would recommend the Dune miniseries... it was actually pretty good.

Exclusive Interview: Dbacks Insider and Reporter, azDiamondbacks.com

They have had timely hitting and pitching to win games. Other than that, the NL is really up for grabs this year. At first I did not like it. After all, Justin's brother, B.J., was called up to the minors shortly after being drafted and for the next few years he was being sent down and...

    Diamondbacks 2007 draft thread

It seems like a number of the pitchers we are picking up had poor Junior or Senior years but stellar Sophomore/Junior years. For example, as mentioned in the Arizona Republic, Roemer had a really good Sophomore year but struggled with giving up hits this year (of course, this is in comparison...

    Diamondbacks 2007 draft thread

A pick that I really like is LHP Sam Solis in the 18th round. He is a lot like Brett Anderson in that he throws strikes, has a good pitcher's frame (6'5''), and has a good number of plus-to-average offerings (4 total: sinking fastball, curve, change, and slider). Where he differs from Anderson...

    Diamondbacks 2007 draft thread

http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=136 Can't say that I really agree. The D'backs got a good prospect with Parker and Worthington sounds good but other than that I am not impressed. No scouting report makes any other these other guys interesting. I hope I am proven wrong.

    Diamondbacks 2007 draft thread

I had posted the picked so far in the other thread. Not too happy with the draft right now... but it will beat a Coyotes' Draft any day of the week... then again... that isn't saying much.

    2007 MLB Draft

With their second round pick, Arizona selected Barry Enright from Pepperdine. Not too pleased with this pick either as again the new scouting director ignores any high-priced talents to grab a solid college pitcher who might be a decent starter in the majors. This pitcher's fastball only...

    2007 MLB Draft

I am not too happy with this draft at all. It seems like we are going after players who will be easy to sign and, thus, moved away from what has made us so successful in the past. While Parker (compared to a right-handed Kazmir) is a solid pick the other picks have surprised me. Our second...

    2007 MLB Draft

A new mock draft from MLB.com I do not like the idea of taking another Boras client here. Now, Moustakas might be a real good player one day but to take him here with Matt Wieters and Blake Beavan still on the board is not all too rational. Wieters was projected to be one of the top 5...

    Flashback to the 2002 Draft

He was considered a great prospect when he was a freshman thru Junior in high school but he struggled his senior year. Before 2002 there was little chance that he would have fallen to us, but his fourth year was a huge let down.

    2007 MLB Draft

None of the reports I have read mention him as a catcher. Most of them list him as a 3rd/SS player. I really do not think it matters anyway; we would have to be very lucky for him to fall to us.

    2007 MLB Draft

I agree with a few of those but my overall hope for the draft would be for us to grab either C Devin Mesoraco, RHP Blake Beavan, LHP Ross Detwiler, or RHP Phillippe Aumont with the 9th pick. I do not like taking a high-profile reliever out of the college ranks not only because of past failures...

    2007 MLB Draft

We can all assume that heading into the draft the Diamondbacks are looking strengthen a few positions in their minor leagues, namely left-handed pitchers, the corner infield positions and catcher. The following is a list of players who might be drafted by the diamondbacks in June. 3rd...

    2007 MLB Draft

I do not know if this has been mentioned, but there is an article on the MLB website that gave a mock draft (Obviously this article is a little out dated since it still includes Scherzer). http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070530&content_id=1994433&vkey=draft2007&fext=.jsp

Also, I would love to pick up Matt LaPorta. I know we need pitching help and are pretty set at 1st with CoJack and Carter, but a talent like LaPorta might be too good to pass up.

    2007 MLB Draft

I do not have a subscription but I did find out that BA has Washington taking Scherzer at #5 while they have us taking Phillipe Aumont. I would still love to have Scherzer signed but if he is not, we can still get a pretty good prospect with the compensation pick. Aumont would be a real...

    2007 MLB Draft

Jacobsen is pitching in the bullpen: 2-0, 4.20 era, 15 IP, 10 H, 9 BB, and 16 Ks So he is doing relatively well. He should move into the rotation next year.
