    The Farewell

It was ok. Not sure why Nai Nai couldn't figure this out; it's not like she wasn't aware of the tradition.

    Vikings (History)

I lost History Channel a few years ago when I dropped DTV, so I had to wait for netflix dvds to finish this off. Not really worth it. As everyone mentioned the show sorta died after Ragnar's death. Definitely agree with what I bolded above. I thought Floki was the second most interesting...

    The Meg

Yeah, I guess that should have been our first clue. This film was absolute garbage. Can't believe it grossed >$500m worldwide.

    The Irishman

"A swan song for everyone involved" is a great way to describe it. It was long, but I didn't think there was a wasted scene. Great conversations.

    Leave No Trace

Neat film. I like that it had very little dialogue. Loved the setting. Impressive that it held its 100% after 234 reviews.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Seems to have lost some of the spirit of the first one and become more of a typical sci-fi film. Looking forward to wrapping this series up.

    Sorry to Bother You

Haha, yes it did. This film was a trip. I love original films like this.

    Death Sentence

Agreed. I usually love revenge movies, but this was indeed disappointing. Such weak characters for a solid cast.

    Jeff, Who Lives at Home

Neat little film with a nice ending.

    Vice

Wow, I thought this was great. Primarily because of Bale's performance. Incredible. Holy crow! As Cheney has had well-documented heart problems for most of his adult life, Christian Bale had to study heart attack prevention as part of his method--his tips ended up saving Adam McKay's life...

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (aka M:I 5)

Fun film, although I thought the villain was weak. What an awesome story!

    The Hunger Games

    The Rock!

    Joker

This was one of the best performances I've every seen; Joaquin Phoenix was mesmerizing from start to finish. The first R-rated movie in history to make $1 billion worldwide.

    The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Hahaha. That actually made me chuckle out loud. Those days seem so innocent now. This was pretty darn good for a middle film; usually the middle film drags a bit in a trilogy.

    Annihilation

I usually love movies like that, but I just couldn't get into this one.

    The Hunger Games

They are on my reading to-do list. My daughter gave me all 3 books. I was pleasantly surprised to see they weren't tomes because I'm not much of a fiction reader.

    The Hunger Games

I watched this one back in 2012 and never watched the next 3, so I started by rewatching this. Holds up pretty well; a solid 7/10, which is high for me because I'm not much of a sci-fi guy.

    Disney's Mulan (live action)

My daughter talked me into buying this last night. Not a film I would have typically paid to see, but since she doesn't get to hang out with her friends much anymore I had no problem paying the $30. It was decent. Basic plot that went exactly as expected. My daughter said it was quite different...

    Adrift

Decent little film. Not much to it though.

    American History X

I rewatched this one. What a great film; holds up very well, especially in today's environment. One of the most disturbing scenes I've ever scene. Sounds like he's had a very rough time. I couldn't tell if he's finally got his life together or not.

    Death Of Stalin

I didn't know this was made by the same guy who made In The Loop, which was flippin hilarious. This was good too, but not as funny as In The Loop. Plenty of great lines though.

Movie of the Day #270: Taxi Driver

"Raw" is a perfect description. I re-watched this one; holds up very well. It's interesting to see '70s movies set in NY. Quite a contrast to what it looks like today. Produced one of the greatest lines of all time: "You talkin' to me?" It almost didn't get made after De Niro won the oscar...

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (Netflix)

Fantastic. Reminded me how much I liked Breaking Bad. It was great to see some of the guys again. I didn't know Krysten Ritter was Jessie's girlfriend. I guess that's why she looked familiar in Jessica Jones.

    Inside Out (Pixar)

Finally, an animated film that I liked as much as The Lion King. Possibly more, since I haven't seen The Lion King in 25 years. This film was brilliant.

    What are you reading now?

The Godfather The film closely follows the book. The book spends a lot more time on Johnny Fontane for some reason and it has a weird sub plot with Sonny's mistress.
