BRA - Bummer for Barbosa over guard position in Hamamatsu

In any case, the biggest problem Brazil had was that Anderson Varejao was not efffective. Whether it was conditioning or something else, his play dropped off to nothing in Japan after dominanting in exhibition matches.

BRA - Bummer for Barbosa over guard position in Hamamatsu

    Amare update XTRA 910

At various times I noted that the decision to pass on MyDyess and go after Q was a mistake. I might note that the case against McDyess was not simply his health risks (what was it, three years out of commssion?), but lingering unhappiness over the way he hurt the Suns when he bailed during free...

    Amare update XTRA 910

Very good point. The "no layups" strategy keeps shooting percentages down, but not necessarily the points per possession. BTW, the Suns points per possession was helped a lot by the fact that they not only had the best shooting percentage, but also the best three point percentage to go with...

    Amare update XTRA 910

I'm surprised no one asked where the line is betweeen"decent" defense and "great" defense. For example, in my mind, the Mavs were no more than a decent defensive team. In terms of opponent's shooting percentage, last season they ranked 10th, holding opponents to 44.3%. The Heat were 8th...

Suns Were Interested in Melvin Ely - Still Want to Sign Another FA

For how much? In the NBA, there are guys like Olowokandi or Sprewell that automatically get turned down no matter what the price; but usually it is they are just too expensive. As an aside, it would be nice if there was a "start date" on threads. Bumping an old thread can be a bit confusing.

    Amare update XTRA 910

A lot of writers are holding off jumping on the bandwaggon, but if Amare is even close to healthy it will get awfully crowded. In recent years the NBA has changed the rules to encourage more offense. The old rule that you need a great defense to win the championship is no longer valid. Decent...

    Interesting Diaw Story from ATL

I'm counting on Woodson making the JJ pick worth gold. The Hawks actually have "some" talent, but they don't play a team and Woodson does nothing to change that.

    Greece just beat USA 101-95

Having a point guard with eyes in the back of his head helps too. :raccoon:

    Amare update XTRA 910

It is disappointing if he's not good to go by the time camp starts, but we'll have to play it by ear. This team has the talent to get to the playoffs without Amare and quite likely the talent to win the division. What the Suns really need is Amare at full speed for the playoffs. Yes, I know...

    Greece just beat USA 101-95

Let's blame JJ. It's always fun to dump on Joe Johnson. :p My guess is that it was a group failure. Coach K did a good job of getting the players to think more like a team but somehow they never figured out how to play half court defense.

    Jacobsen to sign with Rockets

Oh, and the Rockets have a guy named McGrady too. The consensus was that the Rockets needed to get a better point guard more than another shooter, but you sometimes you take the best available player.

    What role will JuJo play?

He misspoke. He meant the second best center on the MAV. :p

    Greece just beat USA 101-95

I tend to agree, but I think the real problem is that it is razzle dazzle at the expense of fundimentals. Dr. J and Michael Jordan had razzle dazzle beyond anything anyone today can show, but they were also fundimentally sound ball players.

    Jacobsen to sign with Rockets

I'm still surprised the Nuggets didn't give him some kind of guarantee, since they are hurting for shooters even more than the Rockets.

Andy now that we've added New Zealand's best player... Isn't Raja from the Virgin Islands?

Western Conference Little Changed By Off Season

Rats. I knew something was missing. Everyone was so anxious to rag on me about trying to some action going on this board nobody seemed to notice I left them out. I can include them if anybody cares. :bigyawn:

The Suns would have won the World Championship

Oh, THOSE world Championships. :thud: With everyone healthy, I'd give the Suns a good chance. The Suns are better outside shooters than team USA and get better ball movement. I'm not sure the Suns defense is adequate, but their half court defense couldn't be much worse. In any...

    Phoenix Suns Preseason Countdown

Thank heaven. BTW, is there any hint of Camp Nash this summer? I though it make a big difference two years ago.

The Suns would have won the World Championship

I may be contradicting my point on another thread, but I think the Suns had a real chance this year. The Mavs and Heat were ideal matchups for the Suns. The Suns are generally the most vulnerable against teams that are athletic, with a good low post game, good shooters, with strong ball...

"The point is, fatalism is an irresponsible and defeatist stance for a contending sports team to adopt in a critical off-season." Now that really is an interesting position. Irresponsible? :lmao: I've been as anxious as everyone to see the Suns improve the team as much as possible. And...

    It's All About Health

Thank you, although I don't mind Chap. He's not a troll and usually makes a valid point even if not always as gracefully as he might. It is certainly reasonable to say that I covered old ground. In my defense, I have to say that it is hard to avoid covering old ground if only to give context...

    It's All About Health

Indirectly I was responding to the constant harping about how the Suns should have paid the extra to get TT. I would have like to have TT, but I don't think it would have made any difference if Amare doesn't return nor is his defense good enough to offset losing KT again.
