Yeah, I use wunderground all the time, but I couldn't get a good screen shot.

Dbacl = debacle. I really like that.

    Bickley on the Diamondbacks

'bout sums it all up. Except where's Kendricks in that scathing review? He gets a pass?

I'm at 106 right now. btw, Mike -- how do you like the set-up you bought, now that you've had it for awhile?

It's in the heart of a heat island, anyhow. I hit 105 in late afternoon yesterday, in N Scottsdale 1/2 mile off Scottsdale Rd.

    Big News for DBacks Fans

Apparently at U of A they are studying genetic variations in susceptibility, since 95% of people who get it just think they have a short mild flu or a low-grade cold, if that. Obviously my gene pool is highly susceptible. It never goes away 100%, I've been told, just lurks (in the lungs...

Pixar Grants Dying Girl's Wish to See "UP"

It isn't really geared to kids, oddly enough. It is a very adult movie in terms of the themes. I imagine she was ill and medicated enough, Gadd, that much of it would have been missed, but actually, I can't think of a movie that would be a better way of saying goodby to the world, offhand.

    Big News for DBacks Fans

Like I said awhile back -- I got Valley Fever Pneumonia in 1987, was flat out non-functional for 2 months, and just exhausted for several months more. I couldn't return to full time work for almost six months total and was sleeping 12-14 hours a day at first. I would have felt like a piker...

You're on a deserted island and you are granted

I really hate to admit this... probably G.I. Jane. That, or To Kill a Mockingbird.

    The Hurt Locker

Heard a review on NPR today -- the movie totally blew them away. 'All about sensation -- and it is sensational.'

    Update on Jim and Services

If they want privacy, that's their right -- it doesn't mean ASFN members couldn't also hold a separate memorial.

    The Hurt Locker

Didn't see a thread for this on Search -- I heard an interview with the writer and director yesterday, and it sounded very intense. In limited release until July 10 -- can't wait. This is from the NYTimes review today: June 26, 2009 Soldiers on a Live Wire Between Peril and Protocol...

    Up

What a sweet, lovely movie. Very enjoyable, and the 3-D was nice, and fairly unobtrusive -- not blatant and gimmicky.

    Ribs! Whats your preference?

Damn, those look good. OK, decades ago I had a brain-damaged client who had previously been a local rib expert. He never had shared his secret recipe for beef ribs, which was heavy on vinegar and black pepper, but decided to try to make some for a big party for all the rehab staff. Well, he...

I am so not complaining, and neither is my garden... well, the melons, maybe, but I am still getting some decent green beans and some chard!

    Padres @ Dbacks 5/25

Well there may be a number of people smarter than Josh Byrnes on this board -- just not about baseball. Anyway, I think he's trying to get fired. I'm sorry, but anyone who bought the notion we were ever a contender this year deserves all the disappointment they're going to get.

Jackson to DL, Drew up: Korecky to Reno, Zavada, Parra up

I had Valley Fever pneumonia 20 yrs ago (and my sister died of Valley fever 8 yrs ago) so that was my first thought, too. But when I got it, the first pulmonary guy missed it, the second literally looked at me and my chest Xray for maybe 45 sec and said 'here's what you have, how the hell could...

    Schindler's List

Right up to the colorized little girl, yeah. That really pissed me off -- Spielberg just cannot trust the audience or the actors to get it across. Speaking of heros, a Polish social worker who rescued about 2000 Jewish babies and children and placed them with Christian families died in her...

    Clay Zavada

Nice. He seemed very shy in the post-game, but once he got the shave-cream pie in the face and took off his cap, he had a beautiful, happy smile.
