    Worst division ever?

In 1994, Texas was leading the AL West at 52-62 when the strike wiped out the rest of the season. The Twins won the division at 87-75 in 1987, back when there were only two divisions per league. Four teams in the AL East had better records than the Twins.

    Randy loses to Tampa Bay

Dontrelle Willis started off both 2003 and 2004 incredibly hot as well, and was an average to mediocre pitcher by the end of the year both years. In 2004, he did not allow an earned run in his first three starts, and, at this time last year, he had a 3-0 record with a 0.71 ERA. He gave up...

Curt does a job on the D'backs.

The resurrecting career thing was a little bit of a stretch. Someone brought up Fever Pitch, I think of A Bronx Tale.

    MLB Steroid Melodrama

So you have a problem with a pitcher who pitches inside to back a batter off the plate? After all, throwing a baseball at another human being with the intention of scaring and/or harming them is against the law. And, I assume you do not have a problem if a guy like Sammy Sosa took steroids in...

    MLB Steroid Melodrama

You also have to consider that Presidents have no effect on laws in other countries -- where a good number of these players are from. It is perfectly legal for Vinny Castilla to get steroids in his homeland, same with many other guys. Should they be allowed to take them? Whoever said that it...

    MLB Steroid Melodrama

How do we know Maris' record is "pure"? I mean, look at the guy's career numbers: 12 seasons in the majors, 275 career home runs, 133 of those in three years. That's almost 50% of his home runs in 25% of his career. Not to mention he hit 40 only once (pretty obvious which year).

Signing Warner reminds me of something

Difference is, Warner was once actually good, McMahon was just a flashy guy on a great team. Green seems to know QB's, too. He struck gold with Brad Johnson, then Randall Cunningham, then Jeff George from 1997-99 with the Vikings, and he knew when to get rid of each one.

    Favorite Movie Monologues

One of the all-time classics: "Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would...

    Favorite Movie Monologues

Might as well keep the Tarantino theme going, opening scene in Reservoir Dogs (kind of a monologue, just a couple of interuptions): Mr. Brown: 'Like A Virgin' is all about this cooze who is a regular **** machine. I'm talkin' mornin', day, afternoon, night, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****...

    Favorite Movie Monologues

Cool little piece of trivia about Pulp... The 'shepherd' mentioned in Jules' speech is actually a character in the movie. When Vincent accidentally shoots Marvin in the car, he tells Jules to take the car to a friendly place, to which Jules replies: "This is the Valley, Vincent, Marsellus...

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The Silver Chair was always my favorite in the series, but I think The Voyage of the Dawn Treader would make a far better movie. I'm glad they are doing it in series order, not chronological order. A couple of the series being sold these days are in chronological order, with The Magician's...

    The Continuing Saga of "Barroids"

For what? He broke no rules of MLB. Do you think the Diamondbacks 2001 WS Championship should be taken away as well?

    National Treasure

Very good recommendation, BIM. I saw it last night and loved it. It was especially good for me that it showed the historical section of Philadelphia, which really is a beautiful city (in places). Diane Kruger is smoking hot. Riley was great, and provided most of the comic relief...

    seeing the microphones....

Must be an M. Night thing. You can see the boom mike in the scene in The Sixth Sense when Cole starts yelling "Stuttering Stanley! Stuttering Stanley!"

    Pedro's career > Schilling's career

Back to the Curt vs. Pedro matchup, remember that had it not been for Mariano Rivera's cutter to second and Scott Brosius' failure to throw to first, Curt Schilling would have lost Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. To boot, he would have blown a 7th inning lead and given up the game winning home...

Hey BIM - I just watched Star Wars!

The best part is, for a novice viewer, you have pretty much the same view on C3PO as the rest of us. ::SPOLIER:: To me, the most damning thing about Darth Vader wasn't that he turned to the Dark Side nor was it that he betrayed his Jedi brethren nor was it that he killed millions of people...

Hey BIM - I just watched Star Wars!

How did the Ewoks become Goonies? I could see if you said that about LOTR, since one of the stars was a goonie...

Way to go Red Sox fans

Apparently, you've never driven in Boston. It's almost impossible to build up enough speed to seriously harm a human being. ;)

Pedro Martinez = most overrrated player ever

I find it funny that those who chose to bash Pedro have brought both his Game 7 failure last season AND that he doesn't compare to Roger Clemens, among others. Anyone remember who the Yankee starter was in that Game 7 that put the Yankees in that early hole and got pulled early? Oh, and Pedro...

Finley wants to play for winner

Is he serious? The goal is to win in '05? By signing Sexson and Burnitz? Didn't the Brewers have three consecutive losing seasons with those two? You're not going to turn this team around with a few free agent signings. Time to clean house and set a goal of, like, 2008. Or else, you'll keep...

The ‘Star Wars’ I love won’t be out on DVD

One more thing: I heard they removed the stormtrooper bumping his head. Tell me that isn't true!

The ‘Star Wars’ I love won’t be out on DVD

Three things: One, could BIM digitize his VHS copies onto a computer and then record them onto a DVD? I know you cannot copy commercial tapes, but if you had a video capture card, could you simply record them as some kind of video file, then dump them to DVD? I'm not sure how that works...
