Are the Lakers Ruining the NBA?

Fair enough, not trying to start a fight. I just think there are more teams then just the Lakers that seem to pull off great moves, but it might be just me. The worst part is, players want to sign with teams that have a winning history, but how are teams supposed to develop winning histories...

The 2009-10 Los Angeles Lakers thread

I was thinking the same thing Donald, just really stupid of Ariza. He's going to make the exact same money he would have made in LA but have zero chance of winning a title. The interesting thing will be to see how Ariza fares with being the best player on his team. I mean, if you think about...

Are the Lakers Ruining the NBA?

So not to be hostile, but I have to ask. Why is it that the Cavs have the best record in the league last year, lose a total of one home game all season, then aquire Shaq for nothing, but it's the Lakers signing of Artest that starts the accusation of "ruining the NBA?" Or what about the Spurs...

Hilariously bad Ron Artest tribute to M. Jackson

Artest should stick to basketball, he's actually good at that.

Are the Lakers Ruining the NBA?

That's the one flaw with the Hard Cap system. Teams usually can't keep their best player and as a result you rarely see teams become dynasties. It's the norm in the NFL for a team to get to or win the Super Bowl and then suck the next year. That part kinda gets old. It's good and bad, it's kinda...

Are the Lakers Ruining the NBA?

Believe it or not, I'm a Laker fan that agrees with you. I think all sports should have a hard cap like the NFL that teams are not allowed to exceed for any reason. Don't get me wrong, as a Laker fan, I'm thrilled to have all this talent in LA, but at the same time I see the huge flaw in the...

    Ariza to Houston

Good move by the Rockets, they're getting a hell of a player in Ariza. I'm really going to miss him in LA, but getting Artest really helps dull the pain. :D

The 2009-10 Los Angeles Lakers thread

Well, I have to say I disagree with the assesment that Ariza isn't worth the money, but what's done is done. Sounds like things weren't working with Ariza so the Lakers went out and got Artest. This is probably an upgrade, I know, but I'm sad to see Ariza go. Artest is a hell of a player though...

    Artest to Lakers

Wow, this is a big acquisition indeed, but I'm not sure how much I like it. Yes, it does mean that Ariza will be available, word is that Ariza is going to leave because the Lakers wouldn't offer him more then the MLE. Ariza like Odom wants a higher payday ($10 Mil range) and Ariza is looking at...

    Rubio to NY discussions Begin?

Touche! :D Just to clarify my view though, I think it's lame for ANY player to refuse to play for the team that drafted them. The guys don't HAVE to live in that city if they don't want to, they make more then enough to buy a house in the state of their choice and maintain a smaller rental...

Ariza leaning toward leaving the Lakers.. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4301414 If this is true, it will be the biggest mistake the Lakers have made in decades. They would not be champions if not for Ariza and he deserves a real offer even if it means luxury tax. If Cleveland...

    Rubio to NY discussions Begin?

Kobe never refused to play for the Hornets, he was drafted by them and then the Lakers traded for him. The only things you can find to support the thought that he refused is the speculation of random fans. To answer your question though, I think it's lame for an athlete in any sport to refuse to...

He signing of Gordon confuses me, they cant really be looking to get rid of Rip Hamilton are they?
  14. Darth Llama

    Odom?

I don't see Odom as a good fit for Phoenix because as someone said before, he is somewhat inconsistent. He has great nights, but then he has nights where he just seems disinterested which is something Phoenix won't be able to afford. In my opinion, the perfect guy for the Suns is Trevor Ariza...

    Rubio to NY discussions Begin?

If he was under contract with a Euro team, then he never should have been allowed to enter the draft to begin with. What's the point of these contracts if the players don't have to honor them? If he commits to a team (or a league) he should uphold that commitment, period. If he was already under...

Amare really wants to hurt the Suns, desires a trade to Lakers

Dream on, that would NEVER happen. Odom and Ariza are the only SF's that the Lakers have outside of Luke Walton. This trade would weaken the Lakers significantly at the 3 will creating a log jam in the front court with Amare, Pau and Bynum. Odom and Ariza are both vital to the Lakers and they...

    Amare To The Lakers

Yeah right, he's going to go to LA and back up Pau Gasol? Lakers don't need him and certainly wouldn't give up anything to get him. Totally bogus.

    Laptop issues

Just curious, what do you think of the build quality of your Asus Laptop? The reason I ask is because I bought an Asus Laptop (actually typing on it right now) about 2 years ago. I got the Asus A8JS and while it runs like a champ, the build quality is absolute crap. The paint around the touch...

    Michael Curry Fired (per ESPN)

Yep, that's why I had no idea who Michael Curry was. I can't keep up with all the coaching changes in Detroit, seems like they just hired this guy a month ago.

    Rubio to NY discussions Begin?

I have heard this as well, and I think it's absolutely ridiculous. How does Rubio get away with this? If he declared for the NBA Draft, how is it that he has a choice to just play in Europe instead? He committed himself to the NBA when he declared eligible for the draft and a NBA team used one...

Hawks offer Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford for Amare...

Good to see there is at least one person here that realizes Amare's REAL value. This isn't Kobe/LeBron/D. Howard we're talking about. This proposal is pretty close to the fair market value for Amare. Amare is a premiere scorer, a pretty good rebounder and a below average defender with 1 year...

    Rasheed

Sheed has one of the best post up games in the NBA. That's what aggravates me about watching him play the way he does. He has all that talent and potential to dominate and he simply doesn't use it. Defensively, I have never considered Wallace to be anything better then average or slightly above.
