    Anyone Going to CIncy?

I was there too. The only game that toped that one was when I flew to Arizona in 96 to witness the Jets only victory of the season. It is painful, but hopefully this will be different than previous years. The Big Red has never won a game in Cincy, even dating back to the St. Louis days.

    Anyone Going to CIncy?

Bob, We will see you at the stadium. My son is fired up. It is his first Big Red game. Hopefully, it will turn out like my first Cardinal game, when O.J. Anderson romped and stomped on the Buffalo Bills for a 24-0 victory in 1981 at Busch Stadium. I could be mistaken, but I believe that was...

    Anyone Going to CIncy?

Just checking to see if anyone is attending the game in Cincy on November 18th. My son, Boyd, will be attending his first Big Red game and we would love to meet up with any Cards fans. In the disaster year, when McClueless took over from Tobin I had the opportunity to meet Fiasco and a few other...

    wolfley calls out Rob Ryan

I'm with you. Wolfey's rant is one of the lamest rants I have seen in quite some time. I have listened to Rob and Rex Ryan at coaching conferences, and they both are excellent defensive coaches. As for the "46" ,Rob used the Cover 7 out of the 46 almost every down last year except that he ran it...

    Chow is Made to Order

Scratch Cameron, I wouldn't refer to his tenure at Indiana as coaching. In all honesty, the program did not improve at all during his tenure. Terry Heppner accomplished more in one year at IU than Cameron did in five.

Does it bother anyone that only one DC is on the short list?

It probably is. I hope that would be the case if he were hired at Arizona. He may make a fantastic HC, I hope that as a head coach he doesn't make the DC implement the Tampa 2 scheme exclusively. However, there is little doubt that it is Smith's scheme.

Another HC that should be considered....

Amen. He would be my first choice. I live about 90 minutes from Louisville and they are my favorite college team. This guy appears to be the real deal and can flat coach his butt off. I would hate to be Wake Forest tonight. He has had an entire month to prepare for this game.

I think Rivera is the favorite

True, that injury did hurt. I hope if Riveria is hired he uses more Jim Johnson from his days as an assistant at Phily and less Lovie.

    Why the fuss? Good plan

I could not agree more. Yesterday was ruined by this backward thinking. Can you imagine any decent coach taking the job with half of his staff selected. I realize it is not set in stone that they have to keep the current assistants, but this puts them in a tough situation when accepting the job...

    Why the fuss? Good plan

I hear you. We can never seem to put it all together.

I think Rivera is the favorite

I agree, Pendergast should be gone too. It is another prime example of how inept this franchise is. How long was the McGinnis style of defense allowed to hang around? His one heartbeat never posted a top 20 ranking in yards allowed. Why did this occur? It's kind of strange, but not counting the...

    Why the fuss? Good plan

True, he turned a good young offense into a bad old one. No arguments that he was a terrible GM. His tenure here at Arizona would have been a success if he tuned down his ego and simply retained Jerry Rhome as OC from the Bugel staff. When he was fired I was certain the Cardinals would never...

Does it bother anyone that only one DC is on the short list?

No, I prefer a defense that doesn't allow the opposition to run it down your throat all day. I would also prefer a defense where the offense doesn't know the coverage we will be using 70 percent of the downs. I'll put the ball in your court since you are a fan of Riveria's Tampa 2. Who will...

    Cam Cameron

I'm with you. I got to see his coaching up close for five disastrous years at Indiana. He was a real jerk at Indiana. Moved his extremely talented QB to Wr then back to Qb. Made an attempt to change the school's colors all on his own and said Jay Cutler didn't have what it took to play in the...

Does it bother anyone that only one DC is on the short list?

I love johnson, but he is too old now for a head coaching job. I disagree on Riveria and would rather retain the Pendergast scheme rather than go to that boring Tampa 2 style of defense.

I think Rivera is the favorite

Agreed. The scheme they run in Chicago is very predictable and I feel their unit (Considering the talent) is underperforming. I realize the injury to Harris hurt, but still feel the unit is giving up way too much yardage in some games. If Riveria were hired the unit would have discipline, but I...

    Why the fuss? Good plan

What cronies did Buddy bring in as coaches? Please tell me you are not referring to his sons. They have more knowledge about defense than McGinnis, Tobin, and Pendergast put together. Rex's defense was ranked #1 and Rob's is ranked #4 in the entire NFL. When was the last time the Cards had a...

Davis could be playing final game for Arizona

Agreed, I am no Davis fan, but who else is available and who will replace him? He is seriously over-paid, but until a better option presents itself we have no choice but to stick with him. You cannot let the second overall pick in the draft walk with no compensation.
  19. B

    Can we play cover 2 with A.Wilson @ S?

Agreed, you have to have a middle linebacker that can explode down the field as a run-through player and two safties that are ball-hawks. Pendergast employed a base Cover Two scheme against Seattle and Denver. We have been running a Cover Two the majority of snaps the last part of the season...

    Could be 5 HC opennings

I too have heard the rumor that Rob Ryan is likely to be promoted to the head coaching job in Oakland. He has done a fantastic job with a unit that ranked dead last when he arrived, and if I am not mistaking are currently fourth in the NFL. Russ Smith would probably have the best information...

    Adulais Thomas

Agree, they are extremely athletic. Thomas can play 4 different positions. I will be watching them closely. I know you prefer a Tampa 2, but I think our Cards have some athletes to possibly run a 3-4 depending on the new coach. Dansby. Okeafor, Hayes, and Wilson are very athletic and...

    Adulais Thomas

Thanks for the welcome. I have been a Card fan since 1980 and can still remember those soft pretzels at Busch stadium. Don't know that much, but am a DC at a small 2A high school in southern Indiana. In 2000 I had the opportunity to match wits with Jay Cutler, who was then a senior at Heritage...

    Adulais Thomas

A zero technique is when the defensive tackle is aligned nose to nose with the offensive center, basically right down the middle of the center, not shaded to a shoulder. In the 46' defensive tape I have, Rex devotes 5 minutes of instruction called "playing the zero technique." I have always...

    Adulais Thomas

I guess it is one's choice of lingo. Some 3-4 schemes refer to them as ends, others refer to them as tackles. In the 94' Arizona Cardinals playbook I have the Ryans' refer to them as tackles in the 3-4 set, but that may be because they were a 4-3 team. I agree Pryce is an end, he plays head up...

    Adulais Thomas

In a 3-4 there aren't any ends. There is a Nose and two defensive tackles that align head up on the Offensive Tackle every play. Baltimore's staring lineup is Gregg, Ngata, Pryce and Suggs. In the "46" Suggs stands up as a weak end and Thomas is on the LOS too. In a 4-3 suggs is an end and...
