Halsey traded for Juan Cruz

i like the deal, but it's billy beane we're talking about. there's something else here, something very very wrong. cruz seems like too good a prospect -- a sinkerballer with good k's who was a starter in the minors. but that just makes me wonder, how the hell did we get this guy for halsey...

Looks like we got some decent pitching today

both nippert and webb are products of this system who made it to the majors without ever learning any way to hold a runner. shouldn't this be one of the things taught in single and double a? is there just virtually no running game in the minors? i guess i'm just confused -- people are...

Rotation: Vargas and Hasley to battle for #5 spot in rotation, El Duque #2 starter

i'm having a bad gut feeling we might be looking at a historically bad rotation, if webb fails to completely dominate. this is going to be ugly. real ugly.

i thought vasquez was the opening day starter last season, not ortiz? aside from that, i think we're looking at a truly horrendous starting rotation. i'm figuring webb will be good, batista might be league average, vargas will end up around average to slightly below, and everyone else will be...
