Okay, now that we have resigned to the fact that we suck... What do we do in next year's draft? Do we go balls out and find a way to get Leinart? Do we use our 1st pick, wherever we may be, to get the best QB available? What I would suggest is getting the best player available with pick #1 and see if we can't steal a QB somewhere. Are there any promising QB's in the 2nd round and up? I'm not too keen on college football, but I am certainly into it come draft time. Unfortunately for us... it is draft time.

I think Leinart is out of our reach. I don't think we draft Top 3 no matter what. And I don't think the Cards would ever put together a package to trade up.

The bowl season and Senior Bowl haven't even been played yet. But as far as people I'm watching, Jay Cutler.

As of now we're in basically the same draft position as we were last week. We have absolutely no shot at Leinart unless we lose out and even then its 50/50.

As for taking a QB of the future, it depends on who is available and whether or not Green wants one. Remember Green is fighting for his job next year and I highly doubt he's going to take a QB when he will absolutely not help now.

We absolutely without a shadow of doubt should NOT take a QB for the sake of taking one.

Understood... But lets say McCown leaves, Warner comes back... We start Kurt next year with Navarre as backup. Then come 2007, what do we have? I think it is a pivital time in the development of the franchise. Unless we sign Warner to a multi-year deal, we don't have a clear idea for our future. I do not believe Warner will be the one to turn this franchise around, but I do believe he will be instrumental in the development of a franchise QB.

We have two major weaknesses. Both involve the run (Stopping the run and running the ball), I say we take the best lineman (O or D) and go after Cutler in the second round. If we don't take a QB then there is Mike McMahon who has has played well in place of McNabb.

Ferguson from Virginia is the only lineman that I see us taking in the first round of the draft and I don't think that I want to put a rookie left tackle on a line that I plan to contend with. Here is something that we all need to deal with, rookie offensive linemen don't come in and start very regularly. In general they aren't strong enough or ready for the defensive linemen in the NFL. We can replace Oliver Ross, our left guard, and Davis in two years by drafting an o-lineman, but not anything sooner. Draft a DT, FS, MLB, like it or not this is where we can get someone to start right away and make an impact at positions that we need to upgrade at with youth. Offensively, we need o-linemen and a QB but as I said there isn't really any way either of these positions upgrades us right away.

the same Mike mcmahon who went 12-28 for 91 yards today against Green Bay?

No thanks. I gotta see Cutler play everyone seems to like him and I haven't seen him play.

i think we need to bring Kurt back as the starter next year with a better OL and a better Defense but I want to be grooming the QB of the future behind him.

Russ I agree, I think that Warner can win here and Mike McMahon does nothing for me. Upgrade the lines, add a fast free safety, and select a QB for the future. There really should not be a huge ammount of turnover in this offseason.

I'm in the Matt Lienart or bust camp. If we can't get Lienart then take the best o-lineman available in the first round, unless we are able to sign Steve Hutchinson in free agency. I think it is pretty clear that Kurt Warner still has it, and should be re-signed next year. I think we need to spend the money on the best DT we can find next year and bring in a free safety as well.

   .Mike Mcmahon was 12-28 for 91 yards against a bad Packer team.

"..And in this corner.."

Anyone who wants to draft Olinemen are smoking diapers! I say we draft all other positions[QB 1st if possible] and spend all our FA $ on PROVEN PROFESSIONAL OLINEMEN.. We know that DG knows how to draft, my big question is does he know how to coach those players he drafts? Move LDavis to OG, he's shown us he's too slow to block speed rushers, and I believe he could be a devastating Guard for years!! It's his own problem if it hurts his "pride" to be moved from Tackle.. He's hurting the team now, each and every week!

I would have to agree with you. I realize there is an obvious deficiency in the O-Line, but it would be best to get people who know how to play, to fix it. I think we need to take advantage of having Kurt here to teach a young QB. Just like I wished Emmitt could have taught a RB. There is no sense in finding a QB after Kurt's departure and having Navarre or some random loser teach the guy the position.

guessing we pick at around #8 my early hope is ahmed brooks. is that the biggest need, no but it is a need. huff & darling are awfull. ferguson is the only lineman worth it there & he should be taken by then. v. young is a ? right now. with brooks we can establish a solid core & improved run d. i know nt is a hole but russel davis & maybe a f/a or later pick can get the job done.. all & all we will need playmakers & brooks is just that. it will also make dansby's job much easier. hayes or blackstock can then fight for the other spot.

We need to pick up solid O-linemen in FA, draft a run plugging DT in the first (Ngata) and grab either Cutler or Olsen for our QB of the future in the second.

Keep an eye out for Larry Dibbles and Rodrique Wright both from Texas. Rod is a 1st rounder and Nagata would be a great pick as well.

However, if Jimmy Williams is on the board whem we pick (around 10?) it would be hard to pass him up. He would shore up our secondary either at CB or FS. He is a beast and one of if not the best CB in tha nation. He would be a great fit, because he is a tall physical corner who has great speed.

This a good draft year. 6 good RBs ( very little to seperate them ). 6 good QBs
( very little to seperate them ), good OL ( LT for sure ). Bad year for WRs. Good yr for TEs. Good year for LBs. Bad year for DBs.

Dibbles is not that good he's the 3rd best DT on that team behind Okam and Rod Wright. Okam is the best of the 3.

IMO Matt Jones was a better throwing QB, in college, than Young, and he was drafted as a WR. That sidearm/underhanded motion of Young's will not get it done in the NFL. He needs mechanics, big time. I haven't seen that wierd a delivery since Joe Kapp and Billy Kilmer. He is , possibly the best athlete in College, but as a QB, I'll take a classic drop back.

You are right in that Green will be fighting for his job. Even Leinhart will not help his first year so look for him to take the best player available.

We are going to have to get an experienced QB if McCown leaves. We cannot start the season with Warner and a #2 who has started one game in the NFL.
