The writing was on the wall, and just because it didn't come to fruition on Thursday night doesn't mean it can't happen on Friday or Saturday. In the leadup to the 2025 NFL draft, owner Jerry Jones said the team had several substantial conversations that would see the Dallas Cowboys involved in a trade. That almost happened on Thursday, as they had at least one offer for the No. 12 pick, but they were unable to come to an agreement with the Houston Texans.
In the post-draft press conference, Jones said that picking Booker did nothing to change the fact that Dallas could still end up making a trade.
So what does that mean for Day 2 and Day 3? Dallas still has nine picks remaining in this draft, plus future year's picks and personnel that may now be redundant. Meanwhile other teams could still be willing to part with veterans, and there lists might expand based on whom they selected Thursday, or what comes to them on Friday.
Here's a look at several veterans who could be trade targets.
Pittsburgh Steelers' George Pickens
Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill
Detroit Lions' Jameson Williams
New York Jets' Garrett Wilson
Cleveland Browns Greg Newsome
Miami Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey
Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Jamel Dean
Denver Brocnos' Damarri Mathis
Cleveland Browns Ogbo Okoronkwo
New York Jets' Breece Hall
Denver Broncos' Jaleel McLaughlin
Philadelphia Eagles' Jordan Davis
