Same things were said when it went to 16 from 14. Not a valid argument against, IMO.I really don't like the 17th game.
Makes everything asymmetric. Some teams will have more home games and some more away games.
Same applies to strength of schedule. Up to now we play the same opponents as our division rivals. That's now out the window.
For the 17th game the Niners play the Bungals. The other 3 face playoff caliber teams (Steelers, Brown's, Ravens).
Also it screws up all records and direct stat comparisons.
Really, really not a fan.
This is a very bad take. We play one team with the same division rank in the prior season in the same conference already that our division rivals don't play.
The NFL didn't always have 16 games. They played 14 game seasons in the 1970s.
Unless a team that we are fighting for the last wild card has 9 home gamesEvery team in the NFC West has 9 road games. So, I guess that’s fair?
Every team in the NFC has 9 road games.Unless a team that we are fighting for the last wild card has 9 home games
What if they are not in our division?Every team in the NFC has 9 road games.
What if they are not in our division?

Ok thanks for the inputEvery NFC team (in every division) has an extra road game. They built the schedule this way so each conference is playing a similar schedule for playoff purposes.
