Way too many passes with our depth at RB.

Makes no sense at all.

Usually don't jump on this wagon, but totally justified today IMO.

Arians wanted to prove to Pitt that they made a mistake. He wanted to show that his deep ball system works. He wanted to tear them up through the air.

And he did, for the most part.

Problem is, if you don't establish the run game and get CJ & co going, you fail to keep drives alive and you fail in the red zone as we saw all game.

Where have we heard that before?

At any rate, they tried to run the ball but kept running into a stone wall. If you have good receivers, I don't see why not pass - maybe short passes for first downs instead of just going deep all the time.

For the season, we have 156 rushing attempts, which is 14th in the league.. and 197 passing attempts, which is 15th in the league. Seems pretty balanced to me in the whole.. agree we should have run the ball more yesterday though.

I think BA/Palmer might be starting to become just a little too predictable on third and short?

On this singular occasion, I agree with Thesmel.

Here is the breakdown of pass attempts | rush attempts per game:

Game 1: 32 | 25 = 31-19 W
Game 2: 24 | 28 = 48-23 W
Game 3: 32 | 37 = 47-7 W
Game 4: 46 | 21 = 22-24 L
Game 5: 18 | 25 = 42-17 W
Game 6: 45 | 20 = 13-25 L

The two games where we were very unbalanced were our only two losses.

One could argue we threw more in those two games because those were the ones we were playing from behind in the game...

I wasn't a fan of Ellington starting the game over C Johnson. It seems to me CJ never really got going.

I'd have stuck with the hot hand and fed Johnson the ball enough to get him in a rythym and brought in Ellington situationally. I think the 60 yarder he ripped off late in the game vs Detriot came after CJ and the line had softened up the run D all afternoon. Although I guess Detroit's run D was probably softened up by the coin toss.

I agree, but to liken BA to Whiz when in the aggregate we are very balanced just seems ridiculous to me. Especially by a poster who only seems to notice when we don't run the ball and is usually conspicuously absent when we do.

I think AE makes for great trade bait. I don't hate on the guy, but was never really buying the concept of him being our number 1. I'm sure the coaches and FO are happy with our backfield, but if AE could be moved in exchange for a solid OLB, I'd pull that trigger.

I've never mentioned Whiz.

I do have Cards' RB's on my fantasy teams though - so run the ball already. :)

This. There is nothing wrong with throwing so much, but they need to get the ball out of Palmer's hands quicker.

Have you noticed Palmer hardly ever throws to the check down and that we don't run a lot of screens to our running backs..

Pittsburgh has the #10 rush defense and #27 pass defense. I have no problem with BA attacking the weaker aspect of a team's defense.

Me neither, it was very successful. Some bad execution, penalties & the Refs held the Cards to 13 pts.

The Ol Al Davis philosophy, "just throw deep baby". I remember Warren Sapp saying the OAK defense on the sidelines even knew when the deep ball was coming.

I dont mind personal attacks

I don't mind personal attacks, but you will find this true since the history of earth. Rare exceptions like Patriots this week, I should let things go more but cards fans slobbering love affair with big plays on sports center cost us championships - yea I'm calling fans out as usual- take it personal if you want!

We lost the super bowl with 10 rushing attempts, ( maybe record low all time in any NFL game until this week) after Edge got us there with a balanced attack from the last game with Seattle through the playoffs.

We were destroyed with 10 rushing attempts against the 09 Saints in divisional round. After Beanie balanced up the Cards offense for a 3 score lead in the 1st quarter against the Packers the week before, the greatest pass fest I ever seen! We would not have won without Beanies effort on one leg! Bounty on Kurt and ended his career early. NFL and Sportscenter is fine with that- Cardinal Fans should be ashamed for such fan hood.

De ja Vu - If we don't say something now, when? BA blaming players and execution just like Whiz did, when his play calling is the problem, again. Principally responsible for this years losses, we were not behind we were stupid! We got the backs but not the will, addicted to the pass - allergic to the run. Its just true no matter what kind of a so and so you call me.

And counting Palmers as rush attempts is putting lipstick on the south side of a northbound mule. If the mule don't kick ya- somebody else should! They were not play called runs. We are last in Rush attempts for the last decade, we win in spite of stupid play calling not because of it.

Cardinal up and take it like a fan!
