Sorry, but you're high as a kite. Do you know ANYTHING about Poteat? I lived in Western PA. He was a punt returner. No more, no less. He would do nothing to help us as a CB, not even for depth.

Nice one Stout. How long did it take you to come up with that?

If you feel someone is way off base, I think you can do better than insinuating that the person is high.

I don't want to sound like a goodie-goodie, but have some class when you disagree with someone.

It's funny how things that might have been insulting at one time quickly pass into the idiom. Nost of the associates in our firm are under 30 and when someone says something impractical almost all of them say "are you high?" in the same vein I would say "are you crazy?". So I guess it's not so bad!

Oh Canada!
I wasn't insulted. It takes a lot more than that to get a rise out of me. I do believe I was wrong about Poteat I had him mistaken with someone else. As for being high never I need these brain cells for other things "LIKE TAKING OVER THE WORLD HAHAHA!"

I'd say bring in Jones for a physical. Heck I'm sure he as at least as good as wakefield and johnson. Thou I am not in favor of cutting johnson as I believe he still has upside. Wakefield however is pretty limited to what he can do.

Sorry to offend, man. Like a few others said, I guess it must just be a change in idiom. Anyone I hear say that is really just joking around.

Is Metal Militia decrying the use of the word "high" in regards to someone's thoughts? In my day, the use of the word "high" in the metal scene about someone's mental state was a simple fact, or a compliment. :)

Other Guys on Radar Screen

I'll admit not being up to speed on who else around the league is good, washed up, "has issues" etc. But, in addition to Molden and Mar Tat, the following guys now available caught my eye:

- Ray Ferraro DT Giants
- Jeff (?) Romberg C
- BJ Tucker CB
- Chris Combs DT Jax
- Marco Coleman DE
- Ike Charleton CB Jax (At least he can tackle)
- Neil O Donnel QB (Regardless of how good McCown and Parsons looked - he's proved he can win)
- Grant Irons DE
- Bromell DE Vikes
- Tallman Gardner WR

Aside from the obvious issues of injuries, character and chemicals - the criterion for bringing in a guy should be: If we replace someone we've got with the new guy, does it result in a net benefit to the team - short term (if we're backed into a corner) or long term (normally a more important concern)?

Specifically - Would Combs or Ferrara be an improvement over Davis or Tanner? Would Molden or Tucker be an improvement over Eason? Is it more important that Coleman help us now than Dennis Johnson possibly helping us in a year or 2? Is it more important that O Donnel help us now than it is that Parsons might help us later? And if we're bringing in someone to help us solve a short term problem, will there be a learning curve that delays their ability to help us - and how does that compare with keeping the guy we've already got who's comfortable within our system?

Just guessing, but I think it's easier for us fans to know when a potential pickup flat-out sucks than it is for us to assess how a decent player might fit into our system or whether there were extenuating circumstances on his previous team - that's for Graves, Mac & Co. to determine.

Great Post Jeff!!!!

How many players slip through any teams fingers to become good players on other teams?

The Cards alone have had:

Stone OG
Chad Eaton DT

To name a couple.

Eagles picked up Al Harris CB from the Bucs. Harris was a great 3rd CB for the Eagles and they just traded him for a #2 pick in the 03 draft.

This list can go on and on. The point is to get a marginal upgrade for a year or 2 and give up on the next Kurt Warner is short sighted.

Having said all of that I think we all have a good idea what Tanner and Davis give us at DT. Wakefield is a fairly well known commodity but we shouldn't be giving up on him this year.

Do we have a good gauge on Rhinehart at this point, is there even anyone out there as good as him. Some may say Molden or Evans but I'm not convinced.

So who else is on anyone's list as been there, seen that, it's time to move on?

Even if we pick up another CB and cut Eason can we slip him through to the practice squad?

It is obvious this team needs a quality CB or 2 but will we find one at this time of the year?

Good points all-around.

At this point, I'd take the risk (small as it may be) of losing an Eason, for either Molden or Evans. They offer experience and some insurance. IMO - The intention is not to replace STARKS, I don't think that is feasible, but rather to make sure that our nickel and dime packages are solid. As for the D-line: I'm for sticking with what we have, and finding their true value.

Its Brett Romberg.

Anyways I had no idea Romberg, Tucker and Gardner were releases.

Romberg would be an upgrade over Starkey IMO.
Tucker could be an upgrade over Eason, he has good size a blazing speed(4.35). I wouldnt mind taking a flyer on him if we dont sign any other vet CB's.

Gardner was let go probably becuase of his really bad attitude. But has a load of talent if he could just get his mind on football and not being a punk.

Since we only have 8 defensive lineman on the roster now I don't see why we could not sign Marcus Jones. He has been a decent DE and we do need another DE pretty bad.
