This will be a good chance for the Sun Devil faithful to scout Mike Leach, who's one of many rumored coaching candidates to take over for Dirk Koetter.

Wouldn't that be a lateral move for both Leach and ASU?

I'm interested in getting a first-hand look Leach's Air Raid offense which is supposedly getting put in at Arizona next year.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. I could have sworn this morning I heard about Schiano heading down for an official interview. But yes, Leach is definately not the coach I'm looking to land either. I don't think he's a bad coach, but I don't think he could take ASU to the next level.

Miami continues to say they are trying. Either way he was/is the frontrunner. You don't want Leach to leave anyways. If he were to leave Dykes way be in the running as next HC at TT. It's a longshot but if I were a UofA fan, I wouldn't want that to be a possibilty at all

Don't worry, he's not close to being on LL's radar. To be honest, I'm not sure why Miami wants him

Everyone seems to think that Schiano is waiting to replace Paterno at Penn St. I bet many Penn St. alums have told him the job is his once it opens.

That makes more sense. I'm guessing Joe Pa is only there through 2008 at which point Schiano can take over and keep his same recruiting contacts in the Northeast instead of having to re-establish new ones in Florida.

Leach to Miami is all over in the internet today, not too sure why he'd go to UM where the expectations are 10 win seasons and first round draft picks when he can win eight every year and get paid pretty much the same in Lubbock.

I could have sworn that I heard that Penn St. wants Rich Rodriguez to take over when Joe Pa calls it quits... Can't remember where I heard that.

Actually, prior to this season, the million dollar rumor in Happy Valley (I covered plenty in the media there and heard this one talked about by more than a few PSU officials) that they want Ferentz of Iowa to be the heir apparent to Paterno.

What I DO know for certain is the fact that the old man and Tim Curley (PSU's SID) have openly clashed over this matter. Paterno has all but stated he refuses to retire until he gets some guarantees that Tom Bradley, his defensive coordinator, will get at least a fair look, where as Curley feels the job will be highly coveted when Paterno does walk away, and doesn't wish to make such promises or guarantees.

I heard the Schiano-Penn St. thing on ESPN college gameday and Mark May said it on local radio here a week or two ago. He said you could count on Schiano NOT taking the job, he has his eyes on the Penn St. prize.

Who knows what will happen though? Schiano might go 4-8 next year and he'll be wishing he took the Miami job.

Miami job is highly coveted by coaching candidates who want a MNC and love to win. It has been the stepping stone to the pros for 4 coaches. Schnellenberger, Johnson. Erickson, Davis.

Miami job pays $2million/yr. Miami Prez, Donna Shalala loves football. Recruiting is fairly easy. The weather ain't bad either. Just win games.

Facilaties suck though and major pressure. I agree if a HC has NFL asspurations, it is the place to go though.

Have you ever been to Lubbock?

I guess happiness was Lubbock, Texas
In my rear view mirror
But now happiness is Lubbock, Texas
Growing nearer and dearer
And the vision is getting clearer
In my dreams

And I think I finally know
Just what it means
And when I die you can bury me
In Lubbock, Texas, in my jeans

Like they say at Miami, " if you came for the facilities go somewhere else". Miami / Dade County has scewed over the U and the Orange Bowl for years. They own it, control it, and take money earmarked for reconstruction and give it to Mickey Arison for his basketball arenas. MIami will probably end up at Dolphin Stadium in a few years. Miami just finished their on campus Basketball arena. They are in the final year of the Mark Light Baseball Stadium renovation. The on campus football practice facilities and amenities are in the budget. President Donna Shalala just raised a $ Billion for the University. Some of that will go to facilities. Not bad for a private institution with an enrollment of 8,000.
