I don't think so. But I'm done putting blind faith in HCs. I did that for the first 2 years of DG's regime and got burned.

So far Whis has done one thing, and I don't like it. He'll do lots and lots of other things--he has ample time to make up for it.
Fair enough. Should have made it two :) :)

You cant trade an unrestricted FA and if we franchise him we are gonna be stuck with him.

Isn't there a timeframe in where we can tag him, and then resind the tag before he has a chance to sign the tender?

Why does anyone think that this was Whis' decision? Rod Graves is VP Football Operations. Whis has no experience with personnel.

Is it just that everyone wants to believe in their rising star HC and not the abject failure that's been filling the personnel seat?

I disagree. Whis and his staff have been reviewing tape the last couple of weeks. If they thought that keeping Davis at $11 million was worth it then I'm sure that they would have made sure that it happened.

Hopefully they have other plans for that money. If we can lure in two big name FAs on the defense I will be happy. I'd love to see us bring in a DT like Ian Scott and a DE like Charles Grant or Patrick Kerney. Plus bring in some speed and depth at CB and maybe a blocking TE.

That still leaves us with a hole at Tackle. I'm sure Whis and Grim have a plan for that if they don't resign Davis. We will just have to wait and see.

Wait, didn't Graves recently take credit for all the good moves that had been
attributed to Denny Green? Or did he say that they were "team" efforts.

I do know that in recent years if something was bad it was the former coach's fault and if it was good it was the front office/Graves that did it.
At least according to some posters on this board.

Mike Bidwill was actually the one that tried to give Graves all the credit when they announced his extension. To Graves' credit, he was the one who said it was a "team" effort.
