Crawled Through 5 FB Fields
What's very exciting about having Whiz as HC is that he will do three very important things:
1. He will create competition for jobs. This will be the most comeptitive camp the Cardinals have ever had (and expect some nice suprises from players who did not have a rat's chance of competing for a job under the old regime...like Aaron Francisco, who should have been starting at FS the whole year)...the guy does not care about star power, he cares about Ws. Which is a perfect transition into #2...
2. Whiz will coach this team to win...he will not care about players' stats...in fact, he will exploit the best matchups he has from week to week...which is why we will see the TEs thrown to this year...and we will see a 2 back rotation catered to the RBs strengths.
3. Whiz created a staff that will totally change the atmosphere in the clubhouse and will totally change the attitude on the field. He and most of his assistants are ex-NFL players who know the drill and won't put up with any player being soft or asking for special treatment. Whiz wants to play a purely physical style of football and he's not just saying that, he means it. To do so, he has to create a smashmouth and disciplined mindset...which is why he jumped on signing assistants like Russ Grimm, Maurice Carthon and Richie Anderson...and a weight training dynamo in John Lott.
The Cardinal players have no idea yet what's in store for them...there will be more preparation, attention to detail and good, hard-nosed practices than they have ever seen...and with that, there will be an esprit de corps amongs the coaches that will elevate these players' spirits and expectations.
