Roy Williams (cowboy safety) is a really good player --

I do think he is over hyped -- and the one thing I see him do that I think holds him back is that he often is so focused on delivering the big hit on a WR, he misses a chance to intercept a poorly thrown, or tipped pass.

I have seen AW do this as well -- just not with the frequency that Williams does.

Those #s arent subpar. He is #4 in the NFC which puts him in.

#4 in the NFC in what?

#6 in the NFC in receptions for a WR behind Donald Driver & Torry Holt (80), Mike Furrey & Terrell Owens (77), and Steve Smith (76).

#6 in NFC in receiving yards behind Driver, Williams, Smith, Holt, and Owens.

Tied for #6 in receiving first downs behind Holt, Owens, Williams, Colston, and Fitzgerald.

Doesn't make the top 15 in the NFC in receiving TDs.

The only thing that he appears to be #4 in the NFC is Pro Bowl votes. Good for him for winning a popularity contest, but his inclusion is pretty marginal.

Just shows that Boldin is liked and believed to be deserving by both other players and coaches in this league as well. All with better and more informed decision making ability than someone we know who said that Boldin would be left off. :doi:

He sure didn't get in on the power of the fan voting. When a Cardinals player makes the Pro Bowl, you KNOW they are impressing their peers.

I thought if you made the Pro Bowl, you were a Pro Bowler. Can a woman be "marginally" pregnant?

Yeah, I guess those legions of Cardinals fans across the nation got him through based on a "popularity" contest.

Face it, K9--even the NFL doesn't think that numbers tell the whole story when it comes to Boldin. First he's voted the 5th most feared player in the league by his peers and you dismiss it as "arbitrary." Now the coaches put him in the pro-bowl and you dismiss the distinction as a "popularity contest" and his inclusion as "marginal."

Weak.

Congrats to the heart and soul of the Cards, The Quan! 99% of Card fans couldn't be happier.

Congrats to Adrian, our defensive leader, YO ADRIAN!

I'll say it now - We have to win in the next two years or these guys are going to go Simeon/Aeneas on us and demand out. They've been busting their ass for this organization for too long and every man has his breaking point. These guys are quickly getting to that stage in their career.

It's on you Bidwill family, put these two deserving guys in a position to win and make themselves some more cash.

You're right, I'm afraid. No one thought Aeneas would leave when he re-signed here over Jacksonville on his second deal. Four more years of losing though drove him away. It's only natural that even the most loyal players want a chance to win and get on the big stage before they retire.

I agree that there is something about Anquan where numbers don't tell the whole story. But I don't think that makes him one of the Top 5 or 10 WRs in the NFL, which remains my only thesis.

What I don't believe is the bolded section in your post. I've looked over that SI list a couple times, and it doesn't say anything there as being based on a vote "by his peers", which is why I consider it arbitrary. If there's something there that says that this was a vote by NFL players, I'll reconsider that and apologize.

I realize Williams is not a popular man here, but objectively I think he played very well this season.

I can't think of an NFC safety who was better than Wilson or Roy W this season. But I can think of several better than Dawkins.

Ken Hamlin should have made it IMO.

A Cardinal player winning a popularity contest. That's rich.

LOL, yeah true that.

Congrats to Wilson and Quan! I cheered out loud when I saw the bottom line at happy hour. Both are well deserving of this honor.

According to John Clayton, T.O. was third in Pro Bowl voting, but players and coaches vaulted both Driver and Boldin. Anyone think that the players might have organized a T.O. ouster?

Congrats to the A-Team, Anquan and Adrian, truly the heart and soul of the offense and defense respectively. Both are well-deserved selections IMO, nothing marginal about the Q.
