Jlove, do you have a link to this list that you can provide? It sounds like this may be a good source for off season information.

The only website I could find that still has this last years salaries is:
http://www.eskimo.com/~pbender/misc/salaries08.txt

As far as players most likely to take either Vet Minimum or no more than half the MLE is a guess off what each of the teams is looking for and what's out there as far as cheaper players.

Tyrone Lue
Matt Barnes
James Jones

More than likely the all 3 of those players will look for half the MLE. That's why I'm extremely surprised that Phoenix even contacted Lue in the first place. I don't know if Kerr and Griff can talk Sarver into using any part of the MLE, but if they can, Barnes and Jones would be interesting to look at.

IMO, I think there's better options at a back-up PG than Lue as far as production and cost. Anthony Carter jumps out at me. Look at his cost last year and his stats. I posted his stats on my wish list. He got those stats in 28 minutes/game. If we could get anything near those stats and/or minutes from him, that would be fantastic for this team and Nash. On top of all that, he's a fairly pesky defender as well.

Thanks for compiling this list:
My list goes off the assumption that Kerr will only use the vet min.

PG/SG:
1. Anthony Johnson
2. Dan Dickau
3. Anthony Carter

SG/SF
1. Devin Brown
2. Roger Mason JR
3. Antoine Wright

PF/C
1. Skinner
2. Elson
3. Doleac

If Dragic comes over and DJ/Alando improve just a little, we should have a "good enough" bench:

Diaw, Barbosa, Dragic, Skinner, Devin Brown, Anthony Johnson, DJ, Alando

Lue, Jones, Skinner.

Jones and Skinner have worked with Genrty and most of the players, si they can fit in and we know what they can do. Jones is a decent defender and a good outside shooter. Skinner's best year was under Porter and he has consistely good rebounding an d shot blockers per minute played.

Lue seems to be well suited to running the break and he has consistently been a good shooter. His friendship with Shaq might help if the money is not too far out of line.

According to several media outlets, the Suns have contacted the Agents of PG Anthony Johnson, Brent Barry and Devean Goerge.

There is a slight possibility that the Suns could be looking at Darius Miles as well. Supposedly he's been working out here in Phoenix. One stipulation on him that may scare teams off, is he is due a 10-game suspension upon his return to the NBA due to testing positive for a banned substance.

Darius Miles, the former Trail Blazers forward who is looking for employment within the NBA, will be a little less attractive to teams today after it was learned that Miles is subject to a 10-game suspension for violating the league's Anti-Drug program. It is not known for what substance Miles tested positive, but in the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement, it states a player can receive a 10-game suspension for testing positive once for performance-enhancing drugs or for his fourth positive test of marijuana. The suspension figures to make Miles even more damaged goods for a team interested in signing him. It is unclear whether Miles is trying to make a comeback, although it was rumored that he has been working out in Phoenix. His agent, Jeff Wechsler, did not return a phone message on Wednesday. No player has ever come back to the NBA after being deemed to have a career-ending injury. Oregonian

Jones opted out of 3 million a year, wouldn't logic tell you he isn't looking to take a pay cut?

Jones is no dope. He's on a team with Outlaw, Webster and now Batum. The Detroit papers are talking him up as being a guy the Pistons are looking at. I'm not sure he'll get the per year, but probably a longer contract. However, if he doesn't get it, he'd be a very good pickup for the Suns.

Right now everybody is focused on the top six or so free agents. Once that's over, then the mid level guys will get the attention. After that, the under MLE's will get attention. After that, the Vet Min guys.

It will be a while before things shake out.

Not sure if this was posted. Nice pickup for D'Antoni.
Duhon To Sign With Knicks

Point guard Chris Duhon has agreed to sign with the Knicks.
Duhon will reportedly receive a two-year deal starting at the full mid-level exception. The total contract value will be approximately $12 million.
"I am just excited, I am ready to get to work for the Knicks," Duhon said. "It's a big stage, playing in New York. It's something every player in the NBA wants."
"Chris could have shopped himself around more, but in the end, he wanted a fit where he felt comfortable and he knew what kind of opportunity he would be getting," Duhon's agent, Kevin Bradbury, said. "He wasn't worried about trying to find more money on the market or anything like that. He wanted the right situation, and this just felt like the right situation."

From the list I would go for J-Will and Pietrus but we would need to trade someone like Diaw to make cap room.

Maybe now we can trade Diaw to NY for Lee.

Lopez, Lee, Pietrus and Williams would be a great off-season.

Back-up plan and a little more realistic would be Brent Barry and Devean George.

Duhon To Sign With Knicks

It was Steve Nash that convinced Duhon to take the Knicks job.

After Chris Duhon met with the Knicks and Magic, he went home to Chicago and slept on it. In the morning, he sent a text message to Steve Nash, asking if they could talk it over. Once that message left Duhon's phone, beamed up to a satellite somewhere, and landed in Nash's phone, it was all over. Mike D'Antoni's former point guard found his old coach a new one. Duhon chose starting for the Knicks over being a backup in Orlando, agreeing Friday to a two-year deal for the full mid-level exception of about $12 million. But Duhon's agent, Kevin Bradbury of BDA Sports, said there were more than 12 million reasons. Newsday

Duhon is light years behind Nash. I hope he gave him more advice than "do it"

I really don't know why Dantoni picked the Knicks. Sure they offered more money, but they have **** talent.

His face was priceless when the Bull got the first pick and got Rose. If he would have chosen the Bulls, he could of had Rose to run his run and gun offense.

I agree, but I think it had more to do with control of the team than anything else. It sounded like Paxon was insisting on attention to defense, rebounding, etc. much the same way that kerr did.

Even so, Mike D'Antoni must be kicking himself.
