Anthony Carter is one of the guys I'll be keeping an eye on. Right now I think Lue is their number one target, but Carter is a more accomplished assist man. Neither is a long range solution, but should help while Dragic is being groomed.

Kerr has said he wants 1 point guard, 1 wing, and 1 big.

Based on that list and what I'd want in an ideal situation, I'd go with:

Point:
-Lue or Johnson

Wing:
-Brown or Barnes or George or Evans or Ross

Big:
-Skinner or Malik Allen or Najera or Kwame (yes, I said Kwame)

PS- Where is Ruben Patterson and why is he out of the league? I thought he had a sound defensive game as well as being a solid offensive slasher. Suns may want to consider him.

PSS- How do you get an avatar uploaded? It appears I am un-banned and thus allowed to re-join this forum, however, I do not have uploading avatar or signature capabilities. Tips?

07/19/07: The Milwaukee Bucks renounced their veteran free agent rights toward Ruben Patterson.

08/29/07:
The Los Angeles Clippers signed free agent Ruben Patterson to a contract.

12/13/07: The Los Angeles Clippers placed Ruben Patterson on waivers.

If the bottom rung teams can't find room for him, you know something's up. Also, he has "charcter issues."

For the record, I wouldnt mind Kwame Brown for the min., but someone will prob give him the MLE before October.

Anthony Carter is expected to accept a contract offer from the Nuggets worth the NBA minimum, according to The Rocky Mountain News.
The deal is reportedly worth $1.262 million, and Carter said that "chances are very, very high" he will accept the contract on Wednesday.
The offer was made on Saturday, and Carter played for the league minimum last season. Denver vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien extended the offer.
"He just said that, with their salaries, they don’t have much to spend," Carter said of the Nuggets. "He was straight up with me."

Barnes, Najera, and even possibly Giricek are going to be getting contracts above what Robert Sarver is willing to spend.

Sad but true. It's hard to build depth on a team while sifting through the leftovers. In some ways I was hoping the Suns could do a trade but I'm afraid the Suns might come out on the losing end of such a deal. I guess I will just hope the Suns can sign Lue, Dragic, Lopez and somehow figure out a way to keep Giricek. Even in this scenario the Suns need another shooter at the wing position like a James Jones.

I think we'll see a lot of disappointed lower end guys as LT will discourage teams from signing guys for more than VET MIN. Here is a list of teams over the LT

http://www.storytellerscontracts.info/resources/08-09salaries.htm

Boston - $72.7
Cleveland - $86.0
Dallas - $80.5
Denver $84.1
Houston $81.2
Indiana $70.5 (only 11 contracts)
Lakers $79.6
New York $92.2
Phoenix $72.4
Portland $70.7

It seems certain that Boston will copy the Red Sox in going all out on getting somebody like Posey, but length of contract will be an issue.

It is notable that the Suns two primary competitors for Tyrone Lue are unlikely to be able offer more than Vet Min. Boston needs to get Posey back and are already well into the LT. Dallas has used its MLE on Diop as well as being well over LT.
