I'm looking forward to see what kind of team Seattle puts on the field. Their signings, draft & expansion draft look good on paper.

Hopefully the league continues to improve.

Looks like David Beckham is going to finish out the year with AC Milan then come back to MLS in July, missing half the Galaxy season.

Season opener is only a week away. I have a feeling my adopted DC United is not going to be very good this year, they are an aging team and didn't do much to improve their defense this offseason.

Any predictions?

I don't think any team is going to be good in the MLS, but in context, it will probably be Houston again.

Lame.

That is like if I said that your movie along with all indies sucked, but in context Game Face was ok.

Is MLS the EPL? No. Can they compete with this hemisphere along with some leagues in Europe and around the world? Most definitely. And it is easily entertaining unless you go into it wanting to hate it.

I'll go with Chicago in the east and Chivas in the west.

The lack of basic passing skills is something that is so prominent in the MLS it's disgusting. The league has had a lot of opportunity to be good, but there's a reason why it's considered a B league around the world.

If you think MLS is fun to watch, then I don't know what to tell you--perhaps if you ONLY watch MLS and don't know how the other leagues are, then MLS would be entertaining, but after watching the other leagues for so long, it's easy to be less than impressed.

But it's just an opinion, no need to take it personally.

I do think MLS is fun to watch and I watch more world soccer than MLS. I realize that it is a notch below Serie A, EPL, and La Liga but it is on par with FMF and a lot of other leagues around the world. You can make the case that it isn't but MLS players compete well on the USMNT and MLS teams fair well in friendlies. It is a work in progress but I'll wear the MLS badge proud any day. It is our league, developing our players that contribute to our national team. Quite frankly I find that a hell of a lot more entertaining than watching Blackburn vs. Hull City.

So if it is not fun to watch then why are you even in this thread? Do you watch soccer that is not fun to watch? Not taking it personal, just really confused. If I was offended by every American that made that comment.....

Chicago Fire will win it all. Blanco and McBride.....

I think MLS still has a lot of work to do but it is improving little by little every year. I find some games very entertaining, others not so much, its very inconsistent although I do admit I just can't watch games being played on fields with football lines painted on them (NY, Hou, Sea, NE, SJ) it pisses me off when games on those fields are the HD games of the week--what a waste(it sucks HD Net isn't doing the MLS games this year).

MLS is having a positive effect on the US National team too, the game against Mexico 9 of 11 starters began their pro careers in MLS (the only exceptions were Onyewu & Pearce).

Personally though I prefer Int'l soccer over Club soccer...I'll watch a USMNT game over anything on TV with the exception of Cardinal football.

What do you care if I watch or not? I've followed the Galaxy since before I followed world soccer, and I'm usually one to not give it up. Hell, I'm still watching Heroes for chrissakes! :)

McBride looks way too much like Scut Farkus for me to like him.

Judges are with Chaplin. Lack of passing drives me crazy when I watch MLS.

I do like Blanco tho.

Chicago Homer.

I just bought my tickets for LA Galaxy home opener vs DC. I'll be in row 1 behind the net. Look for the AZ flag draped over the wall.

Worst passing in MLS was Gullitt's "hey Beckham go long" game plan. FU Gullitt. Vancouver is in. MLS is on the rise. Give it time bros.

If the Fire played in Soldier Field still, I would go way more. I will try and catch a game this season.

Isn't Toyota Park a much better soccer arena? Is the location that bad? Either way Chicago is the example of what MLS does right. Great crowds, great front office, and an exciting team. MLS needs the Fire to do well.

Toyota Park is a much better arena. They have great concessions and the fans can be really good.

The neighborhood is fine. I just can't really take the train to get there.

MLS Viewing

Thursday, March 19, 6pm

The MLS season begins on Thursday with the Red Bulls visiting sold out Qwest Field to meet Seattle in the Sounders' first ever MLS game.

Over 32,000 expected. Should be a fun match.

Churchill's Pub and Grill in Chandler will be airing the game, with the pregame beginning at 6pm.

Churchill's is on the NW corner of Alma School and Warner.

The Sounders have sold more season tickets than the Mariners this season. Thats both a good sign for the Sounders and a bad sign for the Mariners. I have a feeling the Sounders will be very competitive this year and their true homefield advantage should help.

I still think the East will have the better teams overall though.
