Everyone is looking ahead to the 2010 offseason but this offseason contains some players that can help the Suns particularly in the frontcourt if Amare and Steve are dealt.

Here are some FA's that could help:
PF Drew Gooden
PF/C Anderson Varejao
SF Lamar Odom
SF Shawn Marion
PG Mike Bibby
PG Andre Miller
PF David Lee (RFA)
PF Paul Millsap (RFA)

Possible Trade Scenarios:

NY: Lee & Harrington for Amare - Harrington is expiring next year and if we can get Lee after he signs an extension, that would soften the blow of trading Amare & trade for Chandler (NO).

GS: Biedrens, Curry, #1 2010 unprotected for Amare - After the trade sign Drew Gooden to replace Amare and hopefully Marion to a reasonable deal.

ATL - Horford, Teague & Crawford for Amare - If we do this we need to trade for Chandler. Or ATL wants to replace Horford with Smith, ATL needs to throw in the kicker cash and we take Crawford out and replace with Pachulia & sign Gooden.

Possible lineups:

C - Biedrens
PF - Gooden
SF - Marion
SG - Richardson
PG - Nash

C - Chandler
PF - Lee
SF - Harrington
SG - Richardson
PG - Nash

C - Pachulia
PF - Gooden
SF - Smith
SG - Richardson
PG - Nash

C - Chandler
PF - Horford
SF - Dudley
SG - Richardson
PG - Nash

Lee and Chandler for our frontcourt? Yech! I love both players individually (same goes for Biedrins), but together, that would be a disaster. I like the 3rd trade, though....

BTW, Odom would be a better fit alongside Biedrins than Gooden and Lee needs to be alongside someone like Duncan or maybe even an Ilgauskas....

If we get Horford, we would need an Okur type 5....

Mmmmm. I think a front court of Chandler and Lee might not be that bad. Lee is more of an offensive PF like Amare. I would have to think about it but if you traded Amare and didn't get a PF in return, that might not be half bad alternative.

Not a fans of Beans at all in any scenario unless you had a defensive beast at the PF position.

Screw the GS trade unless it nets us Randolph.

I consider any ATL deal that nets us Horford & a pick.

I'd expect more than just Chandler from the Wallace contract now that he's contemplating retirement. Chandler and 2010 first top 3 protected. Something along those lines. Otherwise I'm fine with starting Lopez at center. His biggest problem is foul trouble. Play him 30 minutes and he probably gets 9 & 8 (Chandler's averages last year).

Indiana Pacers to sign Dahntay Jones
The Indianapolis Star (Mike Wells) reports: The Indiana Pacers have landed their first free agent acquisition of the offseason. The Pacers agreed to a four-year, $11 million deal with Denver Nuggets free agent guard Dahntay Jones late Wednesday night. The fourth year is a player option. “(Pacers president) Larry Bird and (general manager) David Morway contacted me the first night of free agency and expressed a lot of interest in Dahntay,” Jones’ agent, Mark Bartelstein, said. “The Pacers are getting somebody that competes with an edge and is a lockdown defender. He’s going to bring a defensive mind-set to the team.”

INDIANA, a team in rebuilding mode.
Jones was a low level FA that i would've really liked seeing added to our young mix of guards. A nice compliment to Barbosa as a combo guard. However ,what Dahntay Jones does well is play with a little "mean streak" and most importantly, defend other guards so i doubt he was ever even considered here.

First trade to do now is Nash to Blazers for Przybilla, Rudy, Blake. The rest can wait.

Przybilla/Amare/JRich/LB/Dragic is a good starting 5, with Rudy/Dudley/Lou/Clark/Lopez/Blake a solid bench.

I've always been a huge Nash fan, however, since the Suns aren't going anywhere, how about Nash for Lee.

How is it that yall forget that we have to spend money to get these players? There is not one of those players on that list that we can currently afford.

I think a trade could be worked out for Lee using Nash. The Suns are planning on extending Nash for big bucks anyway.

Jones at $11/4yr was affordable. A young, emerging lockdown defender on the perimeter. He wouldv'e been a nice piece to a crappy defensive team looking to rebuild and get younger. However the SUNS would rather tread water by extending Na$h and Hill.
(sigh)
I don't expect the SUNS to bring in any top flight FA's,but whats the committment? To stay old? To rebuild? To go younger? To cut costs regardless of the product on the floor? To cut costs and just retool?
WTF are we doing?
(another sigh)
