I hope the Suns aren't stupid enough to sign Derrick Williams. He's a tweener who has no place in the NBA. Giving him even $3M is too much, I'd rather one of rookies get his minutes.

Aldrich would be interesting for the right price.

I am thinking right price is out of realm this year. Go figure the one year the Suns can be players in free agency is the year everyone gets a huge bump in cap space.

Physically and talent wise, he's perfect for today's NBA. Too bad he doesn't have the maturity to take advantage of what the NBA can do for him.

Should I rehash what I said last season about why Derrick Williams isn't a good signing?

There's a reason his lesser-talented, former college teammate Solomon Hill is getting $12+mil/season and D-Will wont

I'm not an advocate of Derrick Williams. Only saying what the media reports. IMO, he has been a classic underachiever. He often gets the tweener label because he does not seem to be a true 3 or 4. Just a quick look at his stats indicate the same. Particularly noticeable is his lack of rebounding and lackluster 3 point shooting.

I feel much the same. I would like Aldrich as well because I think the Suns need a third center. Hopefully Ulis is the answer at backup PG.

I think Dudley has taken the role of Derrick Williams whatever that might be.

I wouldn't mind Marvin Williams, but think even at 30 he is going to get a big deal to stay. If he can be had on a 3-4 deal at >10Mill I would have to say he would be a good gap fill and less than Millsaps, just not as productive

In today's game, he's more "versatile" than "tweener". The problem has to do with who he is, not what position he plays. He's more into living the lifestyle than he is into learning his craft, or at least that's who he's been. Maybe he's growing up, I don't know.

Kind of. In short, he got lazy when he signed his rookie deal.

Sounds like ATL has a deal in place with the Suns for Milsap IF Horford comes back.

I'm not in the know but I've heard rumors it's more about partying than laziness.
The two intertwine, but you can party and still work hard and be successful at your craft. D-Will just does t put the work in.

So far it looks like the teams that AREN'T making deals are the real winners of the free agent period.

The salary floor has been announced at almost $85 million. A lot of teams still have to do a lot of spending, one way or another.

You'd take Marvin Williams on a 3-4 year deal at greater than 10 million?

Just off the top of my head, only guys I'm at all interested in during this free agency iare Kevin Durant and Biyombo. Durant obviously is getting the max and just as obviously is not coming here. Biyombo just signed for 4 years and 70 mil, so 17.5 mil per year, game over there. Not sure he is worth 5 mil more per season than Chandler anyway, who I believe we also have locked up for four more years. That contract is looking like a bargain at this point, just like some said, even with Chandler getting his AARP card by contract end. Also, just like some said, I'd feel much better with the Suns just sitting this one out.

Looking at who is still out there, Terrence Jones could be a good stop gap. With his injury history at least you know youngsters are bound to get playing time. He would seem to be someone you can get on a bargain deal (but with all the ridiculousness going on...who knows) and maybe PHX can get him on a short term deal in case he proves to be damaged goods.

This free agency period seems like a bunch of people that just hit the lottery and have a bunch of money burning a hole in their pocket. Seems to me like there isn't much regard for wise spending or financial vision. This may be because we've reached an era where several max contracts on a team is commonplace, and this type of spending is not a big deal. After all, these are NBA franchises with brilliant, financial minds working for them. And then there's the Mozgov contract, where the second worst center in the NBA in real plus minus, who didn't even get minutes in the playoffs, was given 16 mil per year for 4 years, taking up a significant chunk of salary cap despite its rise. Can this possibly be sound, financial spending? Nope. Let's let this one play out without making any splashy moves and see if any lessons have been learned by next offseason.

I compared Tyson Chandler's salary cap percentage from this season. This year Chandler took up about 19 percent of our cap. More than Mozgov will be taking up on the Lakers. Maybe this is just the going rate for starting centers nowadays. Chandler contract looks good.
