No one expected Serbia to win its qualifying group, but the Serbs, under the experienced Raddy Antic, did just that, outdoing France. Serbia is armed with some truly world-class players, none more so than Manchester United's hard-nosed defender Nemanja Vidic. Branislav Ivanovic has done such a good job as Chelsea's right back that the team has hardly missed the more offensive, but less reliable, Jose Bosingwa. Ivanovic will hope to recover from a knee injury.

The midfield is anchored by Inter stalwart Dejan Stankovic, with Milos Krasic the offensive spark. Not too shabby. Krasic probably won't be at CSKA Moscow much longer; he's been linked with United as well as a few other big clubs. Valencia's Nikola Zigic (probably still looking for the rest of his jersey after Thursday's mugging at Atletico Madrid) is the target man up front.

Yes, it's a tough group, but expect Serbia and Germany to advance from Group D, ahead of Ghana and Australia. The Serbs have something extra to play for, since Serbia and Montenegro was outclassed in 2006, going 0-3 (with a goal difference of minus-8).

I don't think anyone has said Serbia are not a good team. I have them pretty much tied with Ghana right now and may well change my mind once we see the final few preparation shape up.

Serbia and montenegro were splitting at the time. They were having hardcore fistfights in practice between the montenegran players and the serb players.

Yeah, I remember all the rumblings about it when I was stationed in Bosnia. We were pretty isolated from it, because we had only travelled through Croatia, and pretty much stayed in a very secure area of Bosnia itself. We did have a bit of a tense trip in Serbia, where we worked with the shady purple uniforms (Serbian police) and shared guard duty with the Russians. I think it would have been a lot less tense if we had been able to talk or mingle with the Russians, but they sat on one side and we sat on another. Thank goodness it was only a few hours!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say about the 2006 World Cup.
Serbia in qualification - Unbeaten. Finishes ahead of Spain and only lets in ONE goal. Pretty great stuff.
They get to the World cup with that brilliant qualification record and lose the first game 1-0. The second to Argentina 6-0 and the final game they lose 3-2 to Ivory Coast (after being 2-0 up).

Yes but how about you check our squad in the 06 world cup compared to now, and Spain wasnt even close to good as they are today.

Milos Krasic is a freaking beast, had 4 goals in 6 games in the Champions League group stage, scored twice vs Besiktas, once vs Manchester United and once vs Wolfsburg
Milan Jovanovic had 5 goals in 8 games for qualifying, and is going to Liverpool for a reason.
Nikola Zigic, although he hasnt had much playing time, he scored twice for Valencia vs Espanyol a week ago in a 2-0 win, and has 4 goals in 300 minutes played this season.
Marko Pantelic has done wonders for Ajax (had 16 goals, 9 assists in 25 games)

For those who are saying we will do bad like last world cup, please keep up because our team is 100,000x better, and half our players dont play in Ukranian or Austrian league.
